Draft at PT Taproom. Amber-gold, small foam. Soapy aroma, butterscotch. Creamy sip, good alc warmth. Warm and fruity. Mulled wine hints. Amber malt, a little metallic. Alright. JohnnyJ (5545) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 10, 2015
On draft at the brewery. Dark amber pour, with an off white head. Bready, caramel, herbal spiciness, and fairly sweet. Uninteresting and not that good. BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - JUL 15, 2007
Bottle: Dark mahogany, light head. The nose is hoppy and spicy with some earthy malt, rye, spice and brown sugar. The flavor is malty, light caramel, sweet plum and grass. The finish is medium bodied. nice. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - MAR 17, 2008

Aroma – Dark malt aroma, fruity yet light in the aroma needs more spice.
Appearance – Brown in color, Nice light head and clear.
Flavor – Can taste the dark malts but it felt watery and light. It was like it was pulled to early. The beer was weak and not a hyped up Winter warmer.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – This seemed like it was missing flavor and true winter ale essence. Was looking for a big beer not one that laid flat. Looks like others liked it but I was sadly disappointed in this beer.
Appearance: Pours a clear, amber body with a bubbly, frothy, white head.
Smell: Sweetish-smelling, bready maltiness with a cup of apricot juice.
Taste: Bready malts with a flash of sugary sweetness. Then, the flavor jumps into a suspiciously tart apricot juice taste. A fair kick of hop bitterness holds until the still rather worrisome tart finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Not very pleasant and a bit awkward to finish.

Bottle Poures a cloudy orange/amber witha very small head and no lacing to speak of. Aroma is light woody malts wioth only slight hop aroma. Flavor is fairly IPAish. PLenty of hop \bitterness and a moderate malt backbone. Lots of woody, earthy notes. Strong lingering bitterness. ABV is not too noticeable for the percentage. Bomber from Safeway, Port Angeles; Nose of caramel and raisin pie with a very light vanilla note; clear amber with a big, glass-lacing beige head; flavor is toasty with brown sugar and a very light smokiness. BillKismet (4041) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 26, 2006
Majestic mahogoany body w. a full head and spicy aroma. The flavor was a dull blend of malts w. a mild, but pleasant hop touch. Surprised to see the high alcohol content, was masked well. Overall, standard winter fare. jake65 (3626) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - JUL 11, 2007
Bottle: Musty copper brown with a smaller head. Nose is mild of fruits and malty sweetness. Flavor is fruity with citrus and apple. A bit on the sweet side, but still good. Thanks Buckdich. OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - JAN 28, 2008
bottle, from trade with 5000. Ok aroma, Fruity, odd funky sharp grape, cardboard. Brownish orange color, small head, minor lacing. Bitter flavor, like aroma, had that funk again, some hop bite. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, sour bitter finish. Eh, maybe a bad bottle or just a weird one
