From the Cask in Stockport, the place under the railroad. From old notes. A copper-amber color, earthy flavor. Medium hops. Very nice, very drinkable, a bit like a biere de garde with the earthy, roasted amber flavor. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2006

Mid brown coloured with woody aroma. Clean malty finish. chriso (7583) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 22, 2005
On cask at the Griffin, Haslingden (where its brewed). Alluring bright copper/bronze colour. A best bitter with a distinctly traditional feel. It is markedly malty, but there’s plenty of citric hop presence and a fair whack of bitterness too. This all contributes to a well balanced beer with a clean and composed mouthfeel. Its refreshing too. The aroma’s a bit subdued though. Not a world beater, but solid and assured.
