ABV: 7.0%. Clear dark black - red brown colour with a average to large, creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, licorice, dark chocolate. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, licorice, malt and hop bitter, burnt malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101229]

Bottle at home. Black coloured with a small lacing beige head. Roasted aroma of dark chocolate and peat with notes of liquorice and hops. Roasted flavour fo dark chocolate with notes of peat, cocoa powder and hops. Roasted and hoppy finish.

Bottled (From Beers Of Europe). Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is tar, some liquorice, alcohol, mild nutty notes as well as some syrup. Flavour is quite similar, with a slight alcohol burn in the finish. Also some quite spicy notes.

Craft Clerkenwell. Martin T tasting. Almost opaque dark brown beer. Little pale tan head. Palate is light and minerally and a little crisp. Mild fresh dark malt. Whisper of malt cream. Minerally finish. Simple stuff but okay.

Bottle at the Porterhouse, London. Pours thick black with a strong, brown head. Dark malts and chocolate roast on the nose. Some booze. Lightly sweet flavor with lots of roasted chocolate and malts, some sharpness. Medium bodied, thick with average carbonation. Finishes with mild alcohol burn and roasty mocha. Nice beer.
