Aroma is one of beers most complex features. Aroma is propelled by lively CO2 and dampened by pillowy heads - especially nitrogen foam. Click on a term below to add it to your tasting notes.

From elcervecero. In Teku glass. Playing Magic 2015. Low ABV but still full of taste and aroma. Great balance between roastyness, sweetness and bitterness with some spicyness too. At the end of the glass yeast seem to concentrate spoiling the last 2 sips though

On draught. Smells of coffee and highly roasted malts no booziness and a little cacoa. Roasted coffee chocolate and a little burnt finish. Dry toward the end. Well round

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2014 Pour is brown black with a fizzy tan head that quickly disappears. Roasted malt, toffee, irish whiskey, oak and coffee in the aroma. Mouthfeel is slick, with a hint of carbonation in the body. Quite a heavy body. More warming Irish whiskey in the flavour, liquorice, with some background burnt malt which works very well. Finish is long and lush, with lots of lovely warming alcohol. Stunning.

Lhev 330 ml.

Bottle from source. Fantastic stout, deceptively strong and surprisingly easy to drink. Wonderful flavour, much more of a treacle/chocolate feel that I would normally associate with strong ales. The head was a little lacking which can be a common problem with some bottled stouts, but this is a very minor complaint overall.

330 ml bottle with tear-off cap, from lkonsortiet, Aalborg. Bottle conditioned. ABV is 7.0%. Pitch black colour, large tan head. Very nice roasty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, mild coffee and tar, a hint of liquorice. The flavour is moderately roasty and fairly dry, with strong notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Just a slight fruity acidity. The finish has a solid hoppy and roasty bitterness. Slightly salty aftertaste. Very good.
