Deep brown body with tan bubbly lace. Very pleasant and refined barrel ageing, white chocolate, muesli and sweet roasted notes. Interesting flavour, starting with a real sweet liquor balanced by a beery dark malt base. Barrel ageing can make beers watery or boozy, but nothing of that in this interesting yet very tasty treat. ABV is very well hidden. Looks good, smells good, tastes great! (33cl bottle, traded with Leighton, thanks!)

Bottled (from Beers Of Europe). Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is sweet wood, liquorice, mild tobacco and mild nutty notes. Flavour is liquorice, toffee, mild ashes, tobacco and some slight notes of alcoholic sweetness and tar as well. Mild vanilla. A bit sticky sweet, but otherwise quite nice.

Holy crap...what a brew. The nose is simply a mark of magnificence with a huge barrel and woody presence, earthen notes, robust roasted malts. A hint of vanilla with some chocolate and whisky notes. Probably one of the best smells ever. Pours a nearly opaque black with a thin tan head that dissapates quickly to nothing. Big booze legs with a bit of bubbles popping on the surface. Sweet and rich middle with barrel flavours bursting...vanilla, spices, chocolate. A bit syrupy with no carbonation. The finish is super robust and astringently roasted. Big whisky notes, booze and a ton of roasted notes overtake the palate. Overall, simply magnificent.

330ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a vigourously poured finger of light beige head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits with some chocolate and roasted notes. Taste is a big raisiny and chocolate sweetness with a hint of alcohol and light hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Nicely balanced flavors leaning toward the sweet but still a very well done impy stout. Highly recommended.

Bottle @ Jacob. Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, oak, vanilla, light whisky. Flavour of malts, chocolate, coffee, strong notes of whisky and oak, vanilla, booze. Medium body, soft carbonation. Nice but abit to dominated by the barrel agening. 280912

Smallish brown head. Opaque black body goes deep brownish dark red at edges. Fruity earthy chocolatey aroma with vanilla fudge notes. Dry-sweet nougat chocolate taste with nutty smoky whiskey notes. Fullish body. Mild, but hot mouthfeel. Dryish smoky whiskey aftertaste with chocolatey vanilla fudge and roasted rice notes. Nice. Complex, harmonic, and interesting. (0.33l bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

Bottle. Its a clear-looking dark brown beer topped by a small, dense, beige head. The aroma has a little touch of whiskey, some vanilla, roasted malts, dark chocolate and some coffee. Booze, chocolate, coffee and roasted malts in the flavor. Some bitterness. Quite dry, yet with a residual sweetness. Lasting finish with chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Nice indeed, but I think I prefer the regular edition. 120915
