Januar bonus @Sørens. Black with a small off-white head. Aroma of vanilla and dried fruit, a roasted note and a little sweet licorice. Sweetish malty flavour with licorice, chocolate and dried fruit, bourbon and vanilla oak notes and reasonably drying roasted flavour. Very well balanced for a barrel aged imperial stout

Very dark brown with a tiny tan head. Fruity and woody tones. Fruit, malt, coffee, wood and hops. Full body with a long bitter / fruity finish.

(Another rare stout from my friend Tony. Thx a lot!)

Bottle from Kris Wines. I’ve had this about 18 months. It’s aged in ’Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey casks.’ Colour is very dark brown to black, tan head which dissipates to a thin edge ring. Nose is sweet, sherry, whisky barrel, musty fortified wine, musty aged wood, some Marmite and yeast extract, some slight oxidisation mustiness, chocolate, black coffee and roasted malt. Taste is musty oxidisation, but not in an unpleasant way, Marmite, black treacle sweetness, roasted malt, sherry, aged wood, slight cola sweetness, dark chocolate, bit of black coffee. The yeast extract and barrel ageing is dominating things, but it’s not too overpowering. Nicely warming and decently balanced. Body isn’t huge. Heading towards big but lighter than some. Finish is yeast extract savoury and salty on the back of the tongue, and traces of the sherry and whisky from the barrel.

Kolor - czarny. Piana - beżowa, średnio wysoka, średnio trwała. Zapach - mocny, kawa i gorzka czekolada. Smak - wyraźnie kawowe i czekoladowe, nuta whisky wyraźna, mocno palone, średnia słodycz, mocna goryczka.

Me gusto Mucho.

I love a great stout and I love Irish whiskey. This beer is a perfect marriage. Hardly any bitter of the stout but contains a great balance of sweet taste. Had this from bottle right after drinking the Regular Celebration stout at Delirium cafe in Brussels. Awesome.

Taken from notes, at Porterhouse Dublin, shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: black beer, small unstable beige head. NOSE: lots of whiskey, some chocolate as well, some wood. TASTE: feels like a bit of whiskey was trapped in the barrel and has come out with the beer, lots of whiskey taste, but all around a nice stout!
