In response to growing interest in American style pale ales the Porterhouse has decided to resurrect a beer from our past. Based on a beer brewed somewhat ahead of its time, in our brewpub days, Hop Head is a highly aromatic, bitter, pale ale, made with the intention of satisfying the hop heads amongst us. Amber coloured, with a distinct malt character, generous use of hops for bittering and the triple addition of cascade and Hallertau Northern Brewer hops gives a conspicuous citrus character for both aroma and flavour. Along with a slightly higher alcohol content this results in a rich, fruity beer with an oily, citrus hop character and wonderfully rich, full mouthfeel.

Cask @ The Porterhouse, Dublin shared with Niilstrong. Clear amber color, average sized creamy off-white to beige head that lasts for a long time. Smell and taste malts, nicely hoppy, tropical fruit hops flavors lightly, nice hop bitter finish. Pleasant overall soft mouthfeel. I like it.

Drinking on Draft in Porterhouse Central. Not as much hop aroma as i would expect from the name. Classic American backbone with some caramalt in the grist evident from the sweetness and then coupled with a great hop biterness on the finish.

from Craftgallery; 5% - quite clear copper-amber beer with a moderate foam left; nice lace; grapefruity, resiney and light spicy hoppiness; medium-bodied, assertive, subtle carbonation; light astringent and solidly bitter; piney and grapefruity finish - solid character

Couleur ambre claire.

Blueshawk (464) - Bad Bellingen, GERMANY - SEP 17, 2016

Unde (1160) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 17, 2016
Clear golden to orange beer with nice head on top. Aroma has American hops, grapefruit and some sweet fruits too. Taste is a bit mild but with nice hop punch in the end with grapefruit and pine hops. Lightish body and medium carbonation.
