In response to growing interest in American style pale ales the Porterhouse has decided to resurrect a beer from our past. Based on a beer brewed somewhat ahead of its time, in our brewpub days, Hop Head is a highly aromatic, bitter, pale ale, made with the intention of satisfying the hop heads amongst us. Amber coloured, with a distinct malt character, generous use of hops for bittering and the triple addition of cascade and Hallertau Northern Brewer hops gives a conspicuous citrus character for both aroma and flavour. Along with a slightly higher alcohol content this results in a rich, fruity beer with an oily, citrus hop character and wonderfully rich, full mouthfeel.

On tap at porterhouse. Dark amber colour small white head. Nose is like cheese. Taste is low bitterness with lownsourness. Feels like a strange citrussy ipa.

33 cl bottle: Red amber color. Earthy british-style hop aroma, a bit of citrus. Caramel malt flavor up front, slightly metallic though, finishing on a more dominant earthy hop bitterness that lasts longer than expected. Rather nice.

Goed hoppig, maar een hop die ik minder vind. Denk weer de cascade. Wel prima verder.

Draft at Porterhouse Covent Gardens. Mostly clear orange with a creamy beige head and heavy lace. Caramel and buttery aroma, some earthy hops. Flavor is similar. Finishes somewhat dry. Nice feel. Very clean and smooth.

A nice smell of grapefruit and hops, not that strong. The small white creamy head has a long duration, the body is dark orange. A light bitter and fruity taste. The body is medium strong, dry and light creamy with a soft carbonation. A nice and rather soft beer.

Nice American Pale Ale from this Irish brewery. The crispiness and freshness is somewhat missing, but instead a familiar Irish sweetness finds its way into this brew.

Clear amber body, lasting white head. Malts, hay and moderate citrus on the nose. Quite strong, resinous bitterness in the taste, sourish, citric aftertaste. Full bodied and dry on the palate.
