COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In response to growing interest in American style pale ales the Porterhouse has decided to resurrect a beer from our past. Based on a beer brewed somewhat ahead of its time, in our brewpub days, Hop Head is a highly aromatic, bitter, pale ale, made with the intention of satisfying the hop heads amongst us. Amber coloured, with a distinct malt character, generous use of hops for bittering and the triple addition of cascade and Hallertau Northern Brewer hops gives a conspicuous citrus character for both aroma and flavour. Along with a slightly higher alcohol content this results in a rich, fruity beer with an oily, citrus hop character and wonderfully rich, full mouthfeel.

Nice American Pale Ale from this Irish brewery. The crispiness and freshness is somewhat missing, but instead a familiar Irish sweetness finds its way into this brew.

Clear amber body, lasting white head. Malts, hay and moderate citrus on the nose. Quite strong, resinous bitterness in the taste, sourish, citric aftertaste. Full bodied and dry on the palate.

Keg at Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Amber/copper, almost clear with a slight beige/khaki head. Caramel malt, resin and orange peel in the scent, with a hint of peppercorn. Sweet malty taste with some nice sticky hops. Disappointingly short finish. Bitter lagery aftertaste. Too cold and too kegged, but theres bags of potential here.
