Brewed with fresh oyster. A smooth drinking aromatic stout with a discernible but unidentifiable aromatic aspect. Not suitable for vegetarians. This gently flavored stout has a roast malt character, full body and an aromatic character from the Goldings hops. Fresh oysters added during the brewing process, lend a discernible yet unidentifiable note.

The aroma is right on par for the style with toasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a slight saltiness. The appearance is dark brown with an average head. The taste is like the aroma without any oysters detectable save a bit of saltiness. The palate is smooth but not very thick. Overall a good drink that I could keep drinking all day but seems lackluster somehow.

Little sharp wet ginger aroma and some brine, dark clear coffee and a slippery moussey tan head. goodness more ginger up front, odd. dusty chalky midpalate, cocoa finish.

330ml bottle, with a crazy grenade pin pop top cap. The pour yields a dark but slightly translucent chestnut to mahogany colored body. A head of khaki tinted froth is initially thick, but it quickly fades to a thin, bubbly, lasting film. Rocky, jagged flares of sheet lacing jut out from the surface, clinging hard to the glass. The nose is pretty simple, showing powdery dark cocoa, caramel sweetness, mild anise spiciness, and some staunch barley roast. A waft of peppery, earhen hops lends a sharpness and aromatic balance. Flavors are quite dry and roasty, based again in bittersweet dry cocoa and darkly toasted caramel. The yeast profile is quite dry and spicy, and there’s a hint of acidity coming from somewhere. I also picked up some cola and maybe a slight hint of smoke. On the tongue, a lively, fizzy carbonation disburses the dry roastiness. The body is on the lighter side for a stout, as there’s little residual sugar to coat the mouth. Overall, it’s a decent dry stout, but it’s really nothing special.

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Off-white micro head with excellent retention recedes leaving spotted sheets. Briny smoke and chocolate aromas. Medium bodied with roasted malt and chocolate from front to back. Dry espresso finish.

Aroma – Rich aroma dark malts comes off dry in the aroma.
Appearance – Black in color, Clear with a thin head.
Flavor – Smooth and rich dark malts very smooth.
Palate – Dry finish with a Nice Mouthfeel.
Overall – Guinness like brew.

Pint on tap at Stout NYC, pours a jet black color with copious creamy head. Aroma is thin and vague with some sweetness noticed. and perhaps some doughyness as well. Taste is also thin and light with sweetness,kind of difficult to describe. Palate is light and is a pretty refreshing stout.

Aroma good deep roast with good hop profile. Solid stout character. True essence provided. 8-
Appearance brown , light brown copper. Large good looking creamy top with handsome lace.
Flavor and Palate : light . soft light bodied , silky textures , gentle with raw bitterness at ends. Aroma promised more than flavor provided. Lacking some substance.

Bottled. Poured clear medium brown with a two-fingered, sticky cap of beige head. The aroma picked up lactic notes over honey, molasses, and licorice maltage.. sweet overall and nicely roasty. The flavor found more of the same malts, with a surprising amount of honey.. lactic sourness and mineraly notes laced throughout.. moderate roast, but quite sweet. Medium-bodied at most with grainy bitterness all around.. the lactose and minerals complemented fairly well.. carbonation was on the higher end. This was an easy-drinkin’, tasty stout.

nearbeer (5419) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 30, 2010
330 ml bottle with a pull-tab cap! Says 5.2% abv instead of the 4.8% listed here. Translucent chestnut with a ruby tint, and a small thin disc of cream above. Aroma is a nice blend of coffee, cocoa, caramel, and a bit of iodine and char. Tastes of graham cracker, coffee, spicy green herbs and hints of marshmallow. Long finish of charred driftwood and soft mellow grain. Medium-heavy body is well balanced, drinkably thinnish, and tingly with acidity.
