Keg at Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Vague malty roasry aroma. Jet black. Thick creamy head. Low key aroma, lightest bitter, some aroma, but almost tasteless. Over chilled? Thick bodied. Creamy. Flat. Dark brown beer with a thin beige head. Nose of roasted coffee, cocoa, and salt, but it’s pretty faint. Flavor is fairly dry with dark roasted grain, unsweetened bitter chocolate, and something maritime finished with a medium bitterness. Pretty good. fdomig (1027) - München, GERMANY - JUL 21, 2017
1 pint at the brewpub, Dublin. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Appearance is just black with a fine white foam. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Dry. Great.

330ml bottle, gift from Mark. Many thanks Mark. Pours an expected deep, dark with a small tan topping. Aroma of roast, light smoke, briny oysters (which I did not expect). This was the St. Patrick’s Day special at the Foundry, served with two slices of Irish soda bread. The bread was delicious, but the stout was underwhelming. My first ’oyster stout’, and it was on nitro, so that helped. Not much aroma, certainly no oysters. Had that classic Guinness look to it, but it was thin and annoyingly a little bitter and a little salty. I don’t drink Guinness any more, but I prefer it to this. Tap @ The Porterhouse, Dublin shared with Niilstrong. Brown color with a dark red glare coming through, medium sized creamy beige head that lasts for a long time and leaves fair lacing. Aroma is malts, soft roast and a little smoke in the distance. Taste malts, again light roast and a hint of smoke, a sweetish hint there as well, dark malt bitter finish. Solid.
