"Made to arecipe originally brewed by Deasys of West Cork in the early 1900s. This was Michael Collins favourite tipple - a stout like your gradfather used to drink. A fine fullsome stout, full in every way, a pungent aroma of late kettle hops. A generous quantity of roast grain for flavour, bitter with flaked barley producing that rich body."
Ingredients: Pale Malt, Roast Barley, Black Malt, Flaked Barley; Galena, Nugget and East Kent Goldings hops.

Pitch black color with a dark brown head. The nose is very unique with strong salty black licquorice, dark chocolate, treacles, and tobacco notes. Did I mention how salty this is? Very dry and intense mouth with salty black licquorice, dark chocolate and dark fruit. Sightly warming. Med body. Saltiness just lingers in the mouth. Truely an amazing stout that is not getting its props.

On tap @Black Door, Helsinki. Poured black with a thick, steady beige head. Perfect look. Aroma is roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is chocolate cake, strong espresso and roasted malt. Dry finish. Excellent stout, probably the best dry stout I have tried so far.

330ml bottle. Dark cola colour, tiny bit of ruby around the edges, milk chocolate head. Aroma is dark chocolate, milk chocolate, roast barley and coffee. Taste is much the same, with some strong roasted coffee aftertaste. Body is thick and creamy without any wateriness. Overall, best dry stout Ive had, especially the body.

750 ml bottle from Micheal Jacksons Rare Beer Club. Pure black in color with the best head of any stout I have seen. Three fingers of full and frothy mocha foam, lots of bubbles. Dark roasted malts, coffee, bitter chocolates, and mellow hops in the nose. Loved the aroma but was a bit faint in my opinion. Full bodied and fairly complex, but this one is a little bitter for my taste.

[email protected], London. Black colour, mediumsized brown creamy and thick head. Aroma is roasted malts, very dark chocolate and some caramel. Flavour is big roasted malts, some dark chocolate and strong coffee and fudge. Really wellbalanced and pleasant to drink. Roasted nice aftertaste.

Pours a deep, warm, chocolaty sable with a nice thick light tan head that sticks around for a bit. Aroma is smoky and oily with a firm, slightly sweet mocha undertone. Flavor is like fine roast coffee with an infusion of chocolate, slightly sweet, slightly bitter, hint of licorice. Texture is fizzy, smooth and just slightly grainy.

bottle from papago drank 7/13/10. opaque pour... brown at the edges black with a creamy cappuccino colored head. the aroma is REALLY roasty.... char without the ash, nutty, charcoal brickettes, wood, caramel, cream, molasses, dust, chocolate and beef boullion. the flavor is the same.... reminds me of grilled yukon potatoes.... savory with a nice astringent bitter finish. it is medium-full bodied... a bit thick, rich and soft but astringency and bitterness keep it VERY drinkable. solid!8/5/8/4/17/4.2

A great brew! .. pours out black, good amount of foam .. rich and flavourful for a dry stout, has a nice level of roast, complex too .. . another winner by PH .. . By tattling on your friends, youre just telling them that youre a tattletale. Now is that the tale you want to tell?

Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse. Pours an opaque black/brown. Tan head. Big, rich aroma, malt forward but slightly herbal. Syrupy, sweet almost milk chocolate-like richness to body, maybe a touch of of molasses as well. Finish slightly sweet, just a bit of nutty bitterness at very end. Really lovely.

Prezentacja:
czarne, obfita piana opada do grubej warstwy i pięknie firankuje;
Aromat:
średnio intensywny - rum, rodzynki, melasa, po zabełtaniu czuć zboże i nuty mleczne;
Odczucie:
ciało wysokie, wysoko nasycone, bardzo puszyste, finisz kwaskowy;
Smak:
wyraźny - palony na czekoladowy sposb, dosyć kwaśny i ta kwaśność bardzo długo się utrzymuje, bardzo powoli, i na chwilę, ustępuje krtkiej palonej goryczce, żeby znowu wrcić do głosu;
Oglnie:
bardzo zaskoczył mnie dublowy aromat, smak jest bardzo stoutowy, pobudzający, piwo też przyjemnie zachowuje się w ustach.
