Complex aroma, dark caramel, dried fruits, figs.

Pours a lighter than expected medium bright amber with a nice thin beige head. Aroma is verry hoppy for an old ale- light citrus, and floral and a crisp smooth light caramel malt. Nice intense hop bitterness but gets a bit astringent towards the end. Malty- light caramel malts throughout but overall it is a bit light in body and flavor and you get some alcohol hotnes in the end. I finally get to tackle another beer that has eluded me for a while. This time, I get to drink the most of a bomber. Aroma is a nicely soaked fruit cake withn caramel. The head doesn’t last long and these’s just the slightest amount of oxidation in this ’03. Tastes like a light barleywine, which makes me just love Old Ale’s. Plums raisins and grapes greet the nose along with a suggestion of smoke. Mild butterscotch is present but does not distract overly. Clear, deep amber brown body is topped by a low, off white head that recedes to a partial cover and ring. Strong fruitiness, maple and caramel in the sweet, nutty flavour along with mild graininess and some light touches of alcohol. Fairly sweet and sugary with tea-like tannins emerging in the aftertaste. Medium body with somewhat low carbonation. Bottle: Bright caramel in color, hazy, thin to moderate foamy off-white head, sparce lacing.   Rich malty nose, subtle hints of caramel with a hint of butterscotch.   Biscuity malt flavor, light caramel sweetness, smooth, finishes clean but a little light.   Likely because of its age.   ABV is very well hidden, but this beer is very warming.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Light caramel malt finish.   Likely lost a bit over the years, but still clean and fairly tasty.   Mucho thanks Tad for the trade! (Bottle 65 cl) Pours a very pretty, warm amber with a small, rough head. Sweetish, caramelish nose. Full-bodied with lots of sweet caramel and some nutty accents. Pours a clear dark copper color with a thin offwhite head. Aroma of caramel with something unpleasant. Flavor of caramel and hops with a bitter finish. The body has a light to medium thickness with an oily texture abd soft carbonation.
