4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Such a good beer. Portland Brewing Company does not fail to impress, and they are only going to get better.
Not a bad cherry stout. Not overwhelming like many cherry beers. Pours a beautiful red tinted black with a tan head . Smells of cherry soda. Taste is creamy, with some cherry, vanilla and coffee. Had on tap at Pyramid Brewery for SF Beer Week. CVBis007 (55) - Oregon, USA - DEC 30, 2014
A fairly well executed and interesting stout. I knocked it for color which was described as deep and dark, when compared with other stouts it appears on the lighter side and more brown than black. The aroma is excellent, sweet bourbon with cherries. The cherry flavor is more obvious the first few mouthfuls, and then gets buried by chocolate and coffee as the glass nears empty. jake65 (3695) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - AUG 20, 2014
Bottle: medium brown color with a small beige head. Nose is sweet with cocoa and roast, a little banana. Taste of cocoa , banana, roast, and faint cherry. Not too stout... 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 28, 2014
Bottle: Moderate stout with notes of muted cherries, soft chocolate, and pale roasted malts. A very soft and light stout, don’t know that I would call it deep and dark. Sweetness is moderate. Seems a little artificial at times, but its minor. Not bad, could use a bit more cherry flavor but since this Stout is so light its at least not out of balance. trujahwarrior (510) - Monroe, Washington, USA - APR 3, 2014
Bomber pours a brownish black color with a thick tan head that faded and leaves good lacing. Smells of chocolate, dark malt, and cherries. Tastes of the same things in the smell with the tart cherry flavor most noticeable in the finish well hidden abv as well. Mouthfeel is slightly watery and creamy with decent carbonation. Pretty good stout. Good for a desert beer. Great price for being a higher abv beer.

Dark brown pour one finger tan head. Aroma of barnyard old musty straw and barley, choco. Tastes choco, background of some tart acidity which I guess is cherry. Fizzy and watery leaves a residue. Booze is well hidden. robforbes (2244) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - MAR 1, 2014
pours a dark brown with a medium size tan head, and very good lacing.
smell is of cocoa, a touch of cherry, oats, malt, and a touch of vanilla.

22oz bomber. Poured a dark brownish/black with a thin brown head. Little to no aroma. Tastes of chocolate, coffee that was very mild. I didn’t taste any cherry in this one. Thin body with a bitter aftertaste. Not that good, especially for a stout. neepsntatties (1988) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 20, 2013
Bottle. Colour...nearly black with thin tan head. Nose...generally fruity but I don’t get much cherry, royal Anne or otherwise. Palate...quite the frothy fiend! Beyond the froth there’s coffee and some dark chocolate with bits of cherry but I’m not getting much cherry. A large part of why I bought this was that I was expecting a lot of Royal Anne, which is my favourite cherry but hard to find as almost all go to the maraschino vat. So, I’m a bit bummed about the lack of Royal Anne, but this is still a decent stout.
