On tap at the brewery in Pocatello, Idaho.
This arrived with a good head over a near black body.
Smoke, toffee, vanilla and chocolate in the admirably complex aroma.
Flavor: lightly bitter after some sweetness up front. Sweet dark bread with some light spicy hop flavors.
Creamy smooth, medium-full body. BuckeyeBoy (8202) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 4, 2016
On tap at portneuf brewing. Pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is toast rich malts cocoa anise and a little coffee. Taste is more of the nice roast malt chocolate and licorice. This is the best offering from portneuf I have had. BelgianBeerGal (4121) - Panama City, Florida, USA - AUG 14, 2015
Draft sample at the brewery. It looks like a glass of espresso with a foamy, brown head. Aroma has a little sweet cream to it. Great flavor with a silky mouthfeel and buckets of coffee. Very tasty. Itzjerm (3056) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - MAR 10, 2015
Very good beer. Creamy sweet toast all at once. Very enjoyable. Dark with nice lasting tan head. Perfect dark grain beer.

On tap at the Mountain Brewers’ Fest 2013. Pours a pure black color with a medium beige head. The aroma is light cocoa and big diacetal. The flavor is also dominated by butter, some chocolate and ash. Could have been nice. It wasn’t. Gription79 (2891) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - JAN 15, 2013
Had on tap at the brewery. This is one of the best beers we had at this brewery. It was creamy with notes of coffee, roasted malt, slight lactose. It was like an iced mocha. Nice and drinkable. IndianaRed (4871) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 1, 2012
On tap at the Barley Bros Brew Fest, Meridian ID. Deep black with a small tan head. Full dark roasty aroma and plenty of roasted and some anise on the young. A slight chalky feel and a moderate. Bitter bite at the end
