Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was an amber/copper color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Lace wants to be somewhat sticky, but it slides.
The aroma had some cherries, the sweet fleshy side with some milk chocolate. Some candied sugary Belgian notes. Super light bready/Belgian yeastiness.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side and delves into the cherries fairly nice with the Belgian sugars and milk chocolate somewhat into the aftertaste. Odd sort of super sweet finish with some apples in there, somewhat like red delicious.
The feel had a light to medium body with a fair sessionability about it. Pretty mobile along my tongue.
Overall, there seems to be a slight lack of "Belgian spice" in this one. And I had this several times as well, but I’ll just tack it up as "trial and error," though this wasn’t entirely an error, just enjoyable as is. Goodgrief (2048) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - MAR 25, 2010
Amber/copper pour with very little head. Faint but pleasant aroma of cherries with a hint of cocoa (a nice combo, I might say). The flavor was a nice blend of dark fruit and a hint of chocolate. My only complaint would be a lack of yeastiness present in most belgians. At least they didn’t overdo candied sugar,n as many US belgian wannabes do. Enjoyable. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - APR 27, 2009

On tap at brew pub. Served in a snifter. Brew is a hazy deep brown color with a thick white head. Fairly thin body with a medium mouthfeel. Nose was yeast and caramel with some dark fruits. Taste was yeasty with plum, raisins, figs & caramel in the background. Also spicey notes.

Deep amber/copper in color with a small off-white head. Aroma of bubblegum, banana, sweet smalt, mellow caramel and spice. Flavor is sweet, malty, bready, bubblegum, banana and spice.Easy drinking dubbel, alcohol didn’t seem overwhelming or apparent. ClarkVV (6821) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 31, 2004
2004 draught @ the brewery. Copper-amber as boto describes, which makes me think of a trippel. Rapidly fizzling white head and a stiff aroma of clove, alcohol, yeast and perhaps some bitter hops. Flavor starts out very strong and sharp of yeast, alcohol, spicy tettnangs or saaz hops. Mild sweetness with some light banana esters, clove and a bit of orange blossom-like honeyed malt. A body that would be medium-full if not interupted by the amount of alcohol sharpness. Some notes of light toffee, some citrus (perhaps some american hops) and a lightly spritzy, mostly smooth mouthfeel. Warming, high alcohol and quite flavorful, but this seems like it needs to be cold condtioned right after being brewed to halt the strong estery, alcohol assault.
