Pours a cloudy brown with murky red highlights when held to light. Smallish off white head dissipates quickly. Smells of dark dried fruit, caramel, toffee slight alcohol. Taste is sweet, a bit hot, syrupy dried fruit and caramel. Aftertaste of alcohol and a slight hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is syrupy Body is thick, carbonation is ample. Great sipper Still my favorite brewpub! Tmoney99 (14840) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 4, 2010
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear reddish brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit, malt and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is another from this house standout beer.

22 oz bottle. Deep brown with some off-white froth. Nose is caramel, dusty attic and earthy hops. Medium light with moderate carb. Taste is butterscotch, apple, orange peel, grass and sweet red wine. A different take on a barleywine. Very tasty. LtDan (1806) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - JUN 8, 2010

Growler thanks to blutt59. The smell is fruits, malts, alcohol, and ok. The look is clear, brownish, and has no head. The taste is alcohol, malts, fruits, and good. bhensonb (15607) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 20, 2010
Shared by ericandersnavy. Pours a clear dark brown with some ruby along the edges. Just bubbles for head. Some strong roast malt with something like dark fruit for aroma. Near full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is quite malty, but it is not really sticky. Lots of hop to help balance the sweetness - but on average it’s a sweet sipper. A really pleasant drink, and the heat is just barely noticeable. Didn’t notice it til I thought about it! Really good drink. Mouthsmacking. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 20, 2010
(Growler thanks to blutt59) Pours deep red/brown with oily bubbles on top. Nose of caramel, toasted grain. Taste of lightly burnt caramel, very low pine hops, dried fruits, pears, and raisins.
