4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
It appears I have the honor of first rating. This beer was hand delivered from someone who purchased on site. 22oz bottle, limited bottling edition. This is a cutting edge beer in the sense that there is no BA or BJCP style guideline. Pours a dark clear copper/brown with nice lasting head. Intense hoppy aroma of blackberry/grapefruit. Taste is similar with surprisingly medium almost light body given its imperial lineage. Pleasant bitterness dominates but is not harsh. If you are fortunate to find this beer, try it and celebrate the diversity of American craft beer!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
From the NC boys at Pre-Sex
A: Pours a deep cola brown with a nice tan head. Pretty good retention with some lace noted.
S: Very hopped up aromas. Mostly resinous pine hops but there is some citrus as well. I tried to pick up some malt sweetness, but there really was none to be found. The aroma is screaming IPA, and a rather bold one at that.
T: Thank goodness there is some malt in this one. Nice caramel with hints of brown sugar and a dash of chocolate. The hops still rule the flavor as well though. Lots of pine with hints of herbal notes.
M: On the fuller side of medium, hopped up from start to finish.
D: Pretty good. Call it what you want itís an IPA in disguise, and it is a pretty tasty one at that.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler from shellebrownies on BA - thanks, Michelle! Pleasant enough pour, dark brown, lively carbonation, and a nice creamy head. Big bold nose with far more citrus character (from the Simcoe I reckon) than most folks will go for in an IBA. I think it works really well, too, combining deliciously with some almost pumpernickel flavors, a hint of a dry finish giving an additional bit of balance too. Really nice, and super-drinkable. I hope to score some more of this at some point.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Shared by JCB. Pours a dark copper with a one finger light tan head. Nose is hoppy and citrusy, super awesome hop profile, fruity, some Simcoe. Flavor is citrusy, super hoppy, resinous, oily, mildly bitter.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler via my Dadís business trip through NH. Big beer. Deep maple brown color, minimal head. A little heavy on the malt- Balanced, none the less. Sharp pine hops. Sweet back end.. caramel. Doesnt taste like any brown ale i have had. More of an american strong ale.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at brewpub. Served in a tulip. Poured brown with mahogany highlights. Big white head that recedes leaving plenty of lasting lace. Huge hop aroma. Smacks you in the face and clears the sinuses. I agree with Pastor, no hint of a brown ale in the smell. Flavor is mostly pine resin hops as you might imagine from the aroma, but there is an underlying hint of caramel sweetness. Medium palate with enough carbonation to be lively. Portsmouth has hit a home run with this one. I was impressed enough to bring a growler home.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The hop bill on this brew would put most DIPAís to shame.
It was served to me in a pint glass it arrived with a finger worth of white head that faded to a great lace. The body of the brew was hazy dark brown with mahogany highlights.
Aromas from this beer are pure Simcoe Hops in all its glory. There is nothing brown ale about the smell. The flavor is just as hop forward as the nose but the finish is a little sweet that is were the brown ale comes thru.
Great medium mouthfeel with awesome carbonation makes this an easy brew to drink. I will say the alcohol is well hidden but will catch up with you. I limited myself to three glasses yesterday and I was glad I had a ride home ;-)
