Pours hazy mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet banana aromas. Soft with dark molasses and banana front to back. Lasting dusty finish.

Draft the the brewery. Pours clear medium brown with a thin white head. Tastes very smooth and like smoked meats. Thick and bready. Roasted and ashy. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like roasted meats, woody, and earthy.

Tap at brewery. Pours mostly clear copper/brown with creamy off-white head. Aroma is cereal and toasted malts, smoke, fig, and light floral notes. Flavor is bready malts, some dark fruit esters, smoke, light sweetness, and some light hop bitterness; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

I found myself really liking most of the beers I had at Portsmouth. The great food helps make the beers that much better. Nice and smokey without killing all the other flavors. Banana and spice notes from the yeast meld perfectly with the smoke.

on draft at the brewery, this one is a sweet smoked beechwood smoke it tastes like, german beer. Not too sweet which wouldve ruined it, I really liked it

Draft @ brew pub on 31 Oct 11. Served in a flute. Nice deep cloudy brown color. Nose is a awesome, banana, roast and clove. Classic flavors of a dunkelweizen with a nice addition of smoked malt. Typical banana flavor upfront with a nice smoky peat flavor in the finish. Medium body. Smoke is mild. REALLY damn nice and I like this version better than the standard. Very well make and I had to order a seconded, tasty!

Dark amber pour, one finger head and some lacing. I find these smoked beers to be rather hit or miss, but this one was well done. Beer was very fruity and sweet, probably would have been too much so without the rather rich and pleasant wood smoke flavor. Fairly well done.

A much more peaty, enjoyable version of their dunklewiezen with a nice caramel bite, a full body, and a spicy finish.
