This strong wheat beer was fermented with Weizen yeast and lager yeast giving it an unusual complexity. Boosted by a krausen addition of 2.5 pounds of New Hampshire maple syrup.

Snifter at Portsmouth 5/27/06. Pours a dark brown color with a very small fizzy head. Head receedes to nothing but a few bubbles. Nose is doughy with some sugary malt notes and bread notes. Palate is smooth and clean. Nice flavorful notes of rich malt, some light doughy bread notes, and hints of brown sugar.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2008 Draft at the brewery: dont know if this was skunked by sunlight or not. The waiter left this in the sun while I was in the gift shop. Poured brown with a medium offwhite head. Mild chocolate and coffee aroma. Initial taste was quite sweet but it mellows in the finish. Malty. Still nice.

Draught at Extreme Beer fest 05. Bright orange and gold hues are supported with a moderately light mahogany brown base. Small, but ample, light beige head. Smells of apples, honey, lightly sour/tart lager yeast, light cherries and a very soft and restrained maltiness. Flavor is delicate yet there is no lack of it. Clean, flavorful lager yeast combines with light butter-toffee, bananas and brown sugar with a fabulous flavor of dry whole wheat to balance. Earthy notes abound, with a hint of spiciness and more sweetness on the finish. No trace of alcohol. Medium body, with perhaps just a little too much carbonation. There are a lot of flavors to pick out in this and it was a delightful drinking experience. Maple syrup does not control this beer in the least; only adds sweetness and a soft, chewy texture.
