On tap at the brewpub on 05/15/2010. Clear caramel body with a small creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel and floral/earthy aroma. Sugary caramel flavor with some earthy hops and a dry bitter finish. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation.

bottle, purchased from brewpub 4/4/09.
Pours a lackluster hazy brown, extremely thin sudzy head that clears away fast. Aroma improves over appearance- a healthy nose of floral and spicy hops over some fruity phenols and malt sweetness. Flavor is undoubtedly interesting for a bitter. Mild hop bite, with a light and even bitterness throughout. Belgian yeast strain shows through in the body- malt sweetness shows in more of a fruity, phenolic way than the usual bitter. Still very mild and balanced, but that extra depth to the malt character is a very welcome twist. Palate is thin and light, easy drinking, with a light sweetness to the finish. Very interesting and well-crafted brew.
