Very smokey, tastes as if its been brewed in a whiskey barrel? Enjoyable but couldn’t drink more than a couple of pints, sits very heavy

Half pint at the Great British Beer Festival 2012. Black beer with a fair yellow brown head. Aromatic roast and sweet aroma. A hint of candy. light, vanilla stout taste, pleasant. Has a little something else to it.

Scopey (14730) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 17, 2012
Cask at GBBF. It pours deep ruby, with a medium white head. The nose is dark fruit, slight sourness/malt vinegar, roasted malt and liquorice. The taste is caramel, dark fruit (particularly cherry and red grape), wood, vinous aspect, liquorice and cola, with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Smooth and rather drinkable. A solid mild.

EdKing (2586) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2012

Cask @ Cloisters, Edinburgh 170612
Black, lots of ruby light through, rich tan head
Aroma - soft roasted malts, dark caramel malts, soft chocolate, slight sour note
Taste - soft roasted malts, dark caramel malts, milk chocolate, milk sugars, rich dark toffee malts, mellow, no hops
Palate - very soft carb, medium body, really smooth. Finish - soft lingering chocolate toffee malts
Overall - This was a really nice mild - perhaps edging to a porter

TheCametron (2480) - CZECH REPUBLIC - JUN 19, 2012

JohnRMurdoch (4869) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - JUN 18, 2012
Cask @ Cloisters. Almost black colour, reasonable head. Strong liquorice malt aroma. Dry sour milky liquorice flavour. Sour roasted malt aftertaste. Not my thing.
