jjsint (3609) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUN 25, 2013
Not black but darkest possible brown. Did not like the sulphur aroma. The taste is full of contradiction: sour, yeast, roast malt, coffee, herbs. Nice sweet finish. OK overall.

Lovely tasting full bodied ale with a mild texture. It is mild roasted with a slightly sweet aroma.

500ml bottle. interesting to read other reviews and i agree. Extremely potent and heavy for what it is. massively full on flavour. Tastes of very strong coffee/alcohol/toffee. Very nice but cannot have more than one.

Leighton (22822) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 10, 2012
Cask at GBBF 2012, London. Pours dark brown with a creamy, tan cap. Tangy chocolate nose, some charred wood. Tangy roasted malt flavor, charcoal, tobacco, light minerals. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately dry and roasty to finish with plenty of tang, some faint chocolate. Too tangy overall.

Very smokey, tastes as if its been brewed in a whiskey barrel? Enjoyable but couldn’t drink more than a couple of pints, sits very heavy

Half pint at the Great British Beer Festival 2012. Black beer with a fair yellow brown head. Aromatic roast and sweet aroma. A hint of candy. light, vanilla stout taste, pleasant. Has a little something else to it.

Cask at GBBF, 2012. Reddish brown pour with a beige head. Dark fruit and raspberry aroma. Blackcurrant and raspberry flavour. Interesting.

3.5
Scopey (16277) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 17, 2012
Cask at GBBF. It pours deep ruby, with a medium white head. The nose is dark fruit, slight sourness/malt vinegar, roasted malt and liquorice. The taste is caramel, dark fruit (particularly cherry and red grape), wood, vinous aspect, liquorice and cola, with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Smooth and rather drinkable. A solid mild.

3.3
EdKing (2668) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2012
Cask at GBBF 2012. Touch hazy, dark brown, tan head. Nose is brown sugar, light coffee. Taste is black coffee, plastic, light roasted malt, bit of fruity prune and banana ester. Good flavour for a mild.
