Dark gold with lacy white head, floral and fruity aroma, more tangy fruit on the palate. Dry-sweet finish. Nice. Shakesbeere (219) - Oxford, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2011
Pint from cask at the Royal Blenheim in Oxford. Pours an amber gold. Smells of English hops with some fruity citrus notes and malt -- a little weak, but all right. Tastes of toffee, some fruity esters, and bread with a pleasant hop bitterness. The flavor isn’t strong, but it’s well balanced. Light bodied, but doesn’t feel too thin (for a bitter). Bottom line: a good session beer, but not terribly interesting or complicated (but better than some).
