imdownthepub (15425) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2006
Cask Conditioned at The Oliver Cromwell, St Ives, Cambs. Golden beer with heavy bubbly head. Interesting and a little more complex for a Golden Ale, dry dusty hops, leafy and with an agreeable hint of stinging nettles. Dry and bitter but there is a vague metallic flavour within, a little like iron tablets. A very good beer.

Cask, gravity, at the Pig ’n’ Falcon, St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Copper amber with a small white head. Faint malt aroma. Sweet marmalade malt taste with a little background fruitiness and a peppery edge. Some bitterness. Really enjoyed this one.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2007. Golden beer with thin lasting off white head. Grassy grapefruit hop aroma. Good subtle astringency. Good drinkable golden beer. Nice grassy hop finish, easy drinking.

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2011 Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Leicester BF. A golden coloured beer with some citric hop in the aroma and maybe a little spiciness. The taste is nice and dry and lemony hops again. Decent stuff which apparently was very good on Day 1. (6,3,7,3,14). (3.3)

Cask conditioned - handpump - Fox and Hounds Northampton. This time the beer seemed so much fresher. The hops were more pronounced in both nose and taste. Lots of grapefuit sharpness. Very tasty and easy to quaff. (7,3,8,3,15) (3.6) Score is an average of the two.
Subsequent ratings scored 2.8 and 3.4. Score unaltered

Cask - The Murderers, Norwich. Pours a golden yellow colour with a fine, soapy white head leaving a light lacing. Grapefruity hop aromas, some lemon. Nice, slightly astringent fruits with some grassy hops and a lingering bitterness. Medium in body with a healthy carbonation.

Dark gold with lacy white head, floral and fruity aroma, more tangy fruit on the palate. Dry-sweet finish. Nice.
