COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Roasted malt aromas, medium bodied with chocolate and caramel notes and a medium hop bitterness. Just as the Gandy Dancers used rhythm to build railroads, our porter harmonizes its complex profile for a flavorful experience. Additional Notes: Roasted malt aroma and flavor. Notes of chocolate and caramel. Malty sweetness is balanced with bitterness of black malt. Slight fruity ester character with mild hop aroma. Medium hop bitterness. Medium to full body. Dark brown to black in color with off-white head.

I’d put this kind of on the line between a porter and a sweet stout. It’s kind of a homely brew, red brown w/ almost no lasting head but it doesn’t taste bad at all. It has a sweet, milk chocolate character, which is why I say it reminds me of a sweet stout, but it doesn’t really have the strong roasted character I’d expect. This is a little bit sticky on the palate for my tastes but otherwise, it’s a pretty good beer.

Nice dark brown color, slightly opaque. Soft aroma with mostly sweet notes. Full body with strong crystal malt influence and coffee flavors. Finishes clean for a robust porter.

12 ounce bottle from Woodmans in Beloit. This beer is almost completely black with just a little red. A one finger tan head and a good amount of carbonation floating up to meet it. The aroma is roasted but also some sweeter vinous notes, too. Less roasted notes in the flavor. In the background are bitter citrus hops and they add some brightness. A little vanilla and cocoa. This is quite nice and has a smooth feel.

Pours an attractive clear ruby brownish amber. Medium creamy beige head. Aroma is chocolatey, caramel, vanilla, a little cracker, some lactose. Flavor is much the same, more roasty. Medium body. Clean, smooth, great balance. Finish is light toasty, some cracker. A really well-made beer. Best of what ive had from Potosi. Underrated.

12 oz bottle. (Friar Tuck) Springfield, IL.
Looks like a glass of Coke. Mild bready malty aroma with dark bread and mild hops. Sweet malty flavour with mild roastiness, some bread and some sweetness. Sweetness makes this a bit unpleasant.

Pours very dark brown with small initial head that never goes away, and great lacing. Aroma is sweet vanilla with a some chocolate and light roasted coffee and sweet breads. Taste is rich caramel up front into milk chocolate and nutty, earthy, roasted malts. Aftertaste is roasted coffee with no bitterness. Palate is soft and smooth with some carbonation. A really tasty, easy drinking porter with some dimension and good aftertaste.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, bakers cocoa and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, bakers cocoa and light coffee with a smooth lingering roasty finish.
