Brown to umber (when held to the light). Thin lid of tan bubbles for a head. Full, sweet malty aroma. Toasted to light roasted malt along with hints of dark fruit. Thick feel. Sweet start, with caramel and light toffee. Middle adds some Mild bitterness and a bit of astringency. Drier, nutty finish. 1/14

Tap at the Old Fashioned - Pours deep brown with a foamy light tan head. Nose is sweet toffee, bready malt, and a hint of nuttiness. Taste is the same--real malty with some honey/toffee sweetness and an almost peanut butter note. A bit of warmth on the finish. Medium-bodied, slick and smooth, with medium carbonation. Interesting and pretty tasty. Made it through my glass pretty quick. RespertFTW (521) - Michigan, USA - JAN 30, 2014

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2014 Tap at Old Fashioned. Deep brown-black, burgundy. Steady beige head. Sweet, sugary, with some mild dark fruit tones. The sweetness really hits you. Has roasty Stout tones almost..very chocolate forward. Certainly doesn’t nail the style, but it is an interesting beverage. Too sugary. 6-4-6-3-12.............Had this one again at the brewery..Brown Black body, thin off-white head. Mellow chocolate aroma. Pretty nice offering, doughy. Cleanish, not much of the pungent yeast...more chocolate toffee. Malty. No real alcohol tones. A nice, easy drinker, full and rich, but easy and well executed. Bottled. Poured clear, darker blood red with a short cap of toasted beige head. The aroma picked up lots of sweeter dark fruit, vanilla, and some molasses topped by a light cap of dusty, earthy hops.. fairly candy-like. The flavor found a nice blend of maple, molasses, dark fruit, and caramel on the sweet, toasted middle.. light, dry herbal bitterness and mild peppery rye around.. finished with tasty sweet malts over smooth, rolling carbonation. Medium-bodied with fairly filling carbonation on the palate.. the mouthfeel was good.. overall too sweet, but still very drinkable and tasty. RobertDale (6755) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - OCT 21, 2013
