Very good and rich landbier with a distinct malt flavor and crisp hop bitterness. You can drink any number of these, preferably on a pleasantly warm Bierstube in Westphalia.

Bottled (thanks DerDoppelbock). Amber colour, mediumsized white fluffy head. Aroma is malts and rye. Flavour is malts, rye and caramel. Also some bittering hops kicking in the finish and aftertaste. Burnt sugar also in finish.

#114 Ein Landbier mit Röstmalz und herbem Finish!! Einfach gelungen!

Pours a dark amber to brown color with a fluffy, small head. Smells of hay, whole grain bread, dough, balanced toffee and a subtle, herbal hop note. Offers a very nice, soft, almost creamy mouthfeel, with a medium, well nuanced carbonation among a light bodied, refreshing beer. Tastes of rustic bread, toffee, grains, resinous with a dry hop leaf note. Aqueous during the midpalate with sweeter toffee, dried earth and a metallic, coppery hint from the uprising, lively carbonation. Finishes dry with an accompanying toffee sweetness, together with a walnut quality. Very nice, soft on the tongue with a rustic malt base and crisp, herbal hops, which especially shine in the finish.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2010 Re-rate: I do not know what I was thinking when I rated the beer the first time, I can’t recognise the experience, well here we go with a rerate: Yeasty aroma. Ruby red and a niche head retention. Fullbodied and with a fruity yeast taste. Nicely balanced with bitterhops, which linger in the aftertaste.

Deep brown with a bubbling beige-brown head. Molasses and caramel malts on the nose. Medium body with just a touch of carbonation, smooth and silky in the mouth. Toffee, molasses, caramel, and a bit smoky. Rye and a bit of sweetness left behind. Very nice deep malty altbier.

Bottled, thanks Ulf. Amber colour, thick fluffy white head. Grainy nose. Aroma is malts and grains. Flavour is heavier, malts, more grains and some roasted sugar and hoppy tones. Excellent, well balanced beer.
