Sampled at RBSG. Pours clear amber with a thin foamy soapy head that leaves a wispy film. Aroma smells of watery malt faint earthy muted hops and a slight spice in the background. Taste is bitter water that comes off with subtle earthy hops and spice, very mild flavor. Palate is thin watery and dry. BVery (10312) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - AUG 17, 2013
Growler from Kristen at RBSG! Deep orange pour with a small soapy head. Floral hops and biscuits. Crisp yet smooth on the palate. Slight bitter finish. Very good! ChiGuy68 (594) - Illinois, USA - JUL 8, 2013
Tasted on tap at Ward 6. A deal rich amber with an off white head. Wonderful balance between hops and malt.

Hazy copper color with a large head. Earthy and spicy hop aroma. Pounding bitterness. Solid malt flavor with a hint of caramel, but mostly buried under bitterness. Full body, moderate carbonation. Style-wise, this is probably like a raw American-style Barleywine with English ingredients. Nuffield (4167) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - MAY 3, 2013
I’ll agree that English Strong Ale isn’t a great style designation for this beer, because many of those beers are a bit richer, with a darker (more ruby) color and oily mouthfeel. The aroma on this was wonderful--I had rosemary and bubblegum, with maybe a hint of basil, and a lot of floral qualities in amongst the herbal. The first tasting brought a real smack at the finish, but then later my mouth adjusted and there was a reasonably rounded hop finish, though once or twice it felt more purely astringent, esp. after the carbonation had left it. Orange, hazy. Really good stuff. This is a brewery that is at its best when it doesn’t even try to brew to style guidelines...which is the way it should be. I did appreciate hearing that they did treat the water to try to get the Burton qualities. (on tap at brewery) JK (6090) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - OCT 6, 2012
Autumn Brew Review, 2012. I was not happy with labeling this as an English Strong Ale, but I think it is the best option. I might have chosen old ale, but the hop character is too strong for that. Good aroma of fruity hops and grass. Sweet malt flavor with fruit. I like this.
