Tap; mid to deep amber and cloudy; good balance of sweet and spice in the aroma; spice resonates all over the palate; grabbed their medicine bottle full of the beverage (their version of a growler) to share with Big J. Definitely the best beer on tap at the moment. (#12) troysworktable (109) - Washington, USA - MAR 19, 2008
On tap. The Brass Monk enlightens. Discipline is about control. Only a half pint is allowed.
He passes by. His robes are a blur of apricot, hazy, indistinct. His skull cap is white. The air in his wake is lightly effervescent, pleasant. Lacing is left behind, visual traces of where he has been. Illusion? No.
He emits the smell of caramel and buttery bread, freshly picked wildflowers and licorice. His presence is caramel, nutty, floral, spicy, licorice, coriander, candied pear, of alcohol without being overpowering. He has a honey sweetness. His voice is thick and oily. He is complex and well-balanced and kick ass!
He goes well with the Overload. Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 13, 2011
Hazed orange, white head. Spicy dried fruit and banana aroma, very yeasty. Flavor follows suit on a base of biscuity malt, lots of yeasty spice and an almost tropical fruitiness. Very tasty. BARLEYWINEO (106) - Tacoma, USA - APR 28, 2012
A: Poured a light golden color with good carbonation and a small white head.
S: Nose is belgian yeast, light booze, spice.
T: Taste is light booze, the 9ABV is stinging but also manages to hide itself well behind the flavor. Some spiciniess, with a light hop bite and belgian yeast. Goes dowon smooth though.
M: Mouthfeel is medium bodied, well carbonated, loads of sweet flavors on the palate.
O: I have been drinking this beer for years and it is my favorite beer from this brewery.

7/27/08 on draught at the brewpub. Aroma is peppery, with a very slightly plasticy phenolic and candilike sweetness from banana fruit. Appearance is hazy copper with a well maintained white head and good lacing. Flavor is sweet citrus with a tangy finish and low bittering. Mouthfeel has a sour tang bite forward, medium bodied with medium carb texture. Overall, complex, yet easy drinking if you’re good with acidic beers.

Yeasty aromas of spice and banana. Pours a cloudy amber with decent head retention. Sweet yeasty spice with some sweeter dark malts. Banana, clove, pepper, candy. A touch of alcohol in the finish. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JAN 29, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy orange with medium white head. Has a nice orange flavor. The body is thicker than anything else served here. Has a sweet medicinal finish, there’s a delightful citrus to this beer.
