COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Artisan Ales and Evil Twin Brewing have joined forces again on a variation of their first collaboration. The new beer is Barrel-Aged Bible Belt, a 12 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with cacao nibs, chili peppers, coffee and vanilla beans before being aged in Heaven Hill whiskey barrels for between seven and nine months. As the name suggests, the base beer is Bible Belt, a 13 percent imperial stout first released in 2014 that combines Evil Twin’s Even More Jesus imperial stout (12 percent ABV) and the same spices and other adjuncts that are used in Prairie’s Bomb! imperial stout (13 percent ABV.)

12 ounce bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a small brown head. A huge hot sugary nose, roast, vanilla, whiskey. Very smooth, very hot, roast, licorice, big rum type tropical barrel, vanilla, sugary sweet malts. Lots of dark sweet chocolate. Lovely. Has a sort of macabre element to it, pairs with Samael’s Blood Ritual. Huge beer. Lovely. The peppers are clear at times, not heat from them but plenty of heat.

Bottle from J’s back in December, so about 8 months old I suppose. Pours a pitch black with a half-a-finger of beige foam that lingers, then dissipates. Very rich nose with cacao nib and lots of spice: vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom aromas all come out. One the palate more chili and a touch of vanilla and oak. Some whisky notes come out as it warms. Suprisingly never boozey for 13% abv. Super approachable with a lot of Evil Twin character...moreso than prairie, especially with regard to texture and body. Roasty bitterness on the finish. Very nice, looking foward to regular Bible Belt.

July 2017 - Bottle shared at Leighton’s. Huge thanks to Kenny for what is currently rated as the joint 29th best beer in the world according to Ratebeer. As ’Prairie / Evil Twin Bible Belt - Barrel Aged’. Opaque black with a foamy light brown head. Aroma is rich coffee and chocolate liqueur, bourbon. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is rich and sweet, sweetened coffee, liqueur, bourbon, molasses and dark chocolate. A rich and tasty stout. (8-4-7-4-17=4.0)

Black full bodied beer with close to no head. Coffee, Chocolate and caramel, no too much booze from the barrels but the vanilla and chillies are pretty weak compared to the non barrelled aged version.

Drank 09-08-17 while writing. Omg this beer is awesome! Typical heavy, american stout. Cacao and coffee are very present, bitter, very rich. Bourbon also quite in the face. Reminds me of the good old days with Thijs. Really awesome.
