Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial Stout
Went to this place with the intention of trying and reviewing two barrel-aged stouts. This was after eight 4-oz. tasters each at Craft Haus and Bad Beat. Decided on Even More Jesus and Bomb! over a Russian Imperial Stout from Joseph James. Was looking forward to finally trying this one. Would be disappointed with anything below a 4.30.
Poured a pitch black color with two fingers of frothy tan head. Excellent spiderweb lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled chile peppers, dark roasted chocolate, dark cocoa, vanilla and some hints of coffee. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted milk chocolate, chocolate syrup, cocoa, vanilla, caramel, spices coming in late and brownie batter. (Taste - 4.50)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, slightly spicy warming finish. (Feel - 4.75)
This was about as good as I could have hoped. Glad I got to try it and can’t wait to have it again. (Overall - 4.50)

Small bottle from Elizabeth Station. Pours an almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma is coffee, some vanilla and cocoa, corn flakes. Taste is sweet, pretty the same character, spicy. Good stuff if you like spices in the beer, but I am not a fan. Tide (3978) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 18, 2016
Bottle from online shop. Black color, brown head. Bitter taste with roasted malts, coffee, chili, chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla and a bit of nuts. Extremely balanced, velvet smooth body. Mini-snifter at Pazzo’s. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. Very sweet and smooth. Chudwick (3240) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - DEC 8, 2016
12oz bottle with no date - nose is coffee, the green hot sauce from Mexican restaurant and definite vanilla. So far so good. Was hoping enough heat to make me not care about the vanilla, but it’s not the case. Very smooth and I get the ancho flavor, but not the heat. For a 65 IBU beer, this is pretty sweet. lot of taste and interesting flavors, but honestly this is overrated. I would have liked this so much more if it had the heat to match the ancho flavor.

OK, it’s been like 15 minutes since submitted my rating and I’m appreciating this more and more. It’s 14% and drinks like 9-10% ABV beer. Now that I’m used to the flavors, it’s working pretty well together, but I still want that heat! bumped it up to a 4.0
Lo máximo. Perfecta integración de cacao, café, vainilla, chile, regaliz. Impresionante. El desayuno de los campeones. En boca es sedosa. Larga e intensa. El chile va calentando lentamente y la cerveza va creciendo hasta el último trago. smaynard6000 (1184) - Apopka, Florida, USA - DEC 3, 2016
Bottle. Pours black with a minimal beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and chiles. Sweet flavor with strong chocolate and coffee flavors, with spiciness coming in later. Full bodied with lingering coffee and heat on the palate. Little bit of vanilla sneaking in as well. Nice twist on this stout. RickFifty (1294) - Fredrikstad, NORWAY - NOV 29, 2016
Deep red-brown to black color, brown head. Roasted malt nose, dark chocolate, licorice, wood. Coffee taste, rich roasted malty, chocolate, vanilla, pleasant hint of chili, hidden alcohol. Full body, soft carbonation, oily texture, warming.
