Pirate bomb is our beer Prairie Bomb! aged in rum casks. The flavor from the casks helps impart more vanilla and coconut flavors to the beer while helping to add more body and smoothness to the already explosive and expressive flavors of Bomb!

NOSE- smells quite boozy right away, but that yields. FLAVOR- what you expect from bomb series. But I’m surprised there isn’t more chili kick. The coffee and vanilla are light, but balance one another well.

Pours black in color with a tan head. Chocolate coconut vanilla sticky sweet aroma and taste with a charred character and warming booziness going down. Notes: on tap at Bangers, Austin Feb ’17 Super Bowl Weekend...go Pats.

Black with a head so dark, it’s not black, but.. I’m just sayin’... Aroma is dark roast with herb. Flavor is strong coffee. Taste starts with rum and quickly turns to rich lactose infused chocolate syrup with a lot of alcohol.

Zlotta (3419) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - JAN 12, 2017
0.355 l bottle from ’Bierkompass’, bottled in October 2014. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, quickly diminishing, brown layer. Sweetish, quite roasty-malty, a bit spicy aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, vanilla and a touch of rum. Very sweet, malty, moderately roasty and slightly spicy taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, praline and vanilla as well as hints of rum and toasted coconut, followed by a very long, heavily roasty-bitter, quite peppery-spicy and hot finish. Full body, creamy to oily, almost syrupy mouthfeel, flat. Wow! Damn tasty, very intense but the flavours match very well, barrel-aging is nicely subtle, maybe just a bit too much of the chilis. Great beer!

12oz bottle courtesy of Darrell. Black pour, small tan head. Robust heady RIS aromas; chocolate, roast malts, molasses, booze, wood, vanilla. Taste piles on with all of these, one flavor blending into the next, some coffee too. Damn tasty.

Bottle split with Scarlett, at the Porter with Linh and mom. Pours a deep black body with no head. Nose reveals intense barrel character and melted brownie. Mouthfeel is full bodied with notes of rich dark chocolate, wood, alcohol burn, light sharpie marker and soft spices.

beer_queue (145) - California, USA - DEC 27, 2016
2016 vintage, 15% ABV. Pours black/dark brown, not absolutely pitch black; some alcohol legs & spotty lace. Big rum aromas on the nose, some cacao, toffee, & coffee follows. Tastes like it smells with rum notes taking over the arrival. Middle is the dark roast coffee & chocolate truffle combo. Finishes with a lot of booze, soft spiciness, and sweet dark sugars (caramel syrup & dark fruits). Thin body and smooth texture; hot with booze but not astringent. Strong alcohol but doesn’t taste anywhere near 15%.

tightslice (1356) - Redwood City, California, USA - DEC 20, 2016
Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is fudgy chocolate, brownies, coconut. Taste is fudge and coconut. Very natural tasting and sweet but not cloying and dangerously drinkable. Booze is extremely well hidden. Need to try side-by-side with the original to compare the Rum contribution.

Pours black with nice very tan head. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Cacao, coffee, burnt caramel, vanilla, spicy, creamy nose. Medium body, soft carbonation, viscous texture. Taste is smooth, creamy, some sweet, vanilla, chocolate, coffee. Very smooth and enjoyable.
