Bottle split with Scarlett, at the Porter with Linh and mom. Pours a deep black body with no head. Nose reveals intense barrel character and melted brownie. Mouthfeel is full bodied with notes of rich dark chocolate, wood, alcohol burn, light sharpie marker and soft spices.

2016 vintage, 15% ABV. Pours black/dark brown, not absolutely pitch black; some alcohol legs & spotty lace. Big rum aromas on the nose, some cacao, toffee, & coffee follows. Tastes like it smells with rum notes taking over the arrival. Middle is the dark roast coffee & chocolate truffle combo. Finishes with a lot of booze, soft spiciness, and sweet dark sugars (caramel syrup & dark fruits). Thin body and smooth texture; hot with booze but not astringent. Strong alcohol but doesn’t taste anywhere near 15%.

tightslice (1530) - Redwood City, California, USA - DEC 20, 2016
Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is fudgy chocolate, brownies, coconut. Taste is fudge and coconut. Very natural tasting and sweet but not cloying and dangerously drinkable. Booze is extremely well hidden. Need to try side-by-side with the original to compare the Rum contribution.

Tap at Shelton Brothers. Tons of coffee and roasted cacao nib on the nose. Sweet chocolate milk with cinnamon, brown sugar, molasses with a touch of coconut. Hides the alcohol so well.

Mr_Abner (387) - Michigan, USA - NOV 7, 2016
Bottle. Pours thick and black with only a slight mocha head ringing the glass. Aromas of spiced rum, cacao, vanilla, coconut, roasted malts. Taste is similar with coconut, vanilla, and cacao prominent; the alcohol is immediately noticeable. A moderate sweetness up front overtaken midpalate by a strong, pronounced bitterness. The alcohol taste is a stronger than I would like once it starts to warm up a bit. Full bodied and creamy with minimal carbonation.

dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 20, 2016
The only minor negative about this beer is the thin fizzy head that quickly disappears. Cocoa and more aroma. Taste starts coffee the a big burst of cocoa powder and the faintest bit of chile. Toasty, roasty darkness and other delights. Wonderfully oily, coating the mouth with lingering deliciousness.

4.5
Iznogud (4715) - CROATIA - OCT 4, 2016
On tap at CBC 2016, red session. Pours black with tan head. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, rum notes, dark fruit. Quite sweet with moderate bitterness. Oily, full bodied, alcohol well hidden.
