Craft Islington. Keg. Opaque black beer, small tan head. Palate is viscous but with good fine carbonation. Mild emulsion paint esters. Rich dark malts. Spicy mid but the heat doesn’t linger. Touches of dark chocolate and coffee. Smooth finish. A mild repeat of the spice on the linger. It’s pretty drinkable for a 15% beer but other than that the top 50 status of this one is beyond me, the volume is turned up to 11 but it’s straight 3 chord progression playing!
Bottle at Churchkey courtesy of me! Thanks. Bottle suggested by Eric. Seemed to fit in with the Ales from the Darkside theme at one of CK’s frequent events. Poured into 8 shot glasses and shared around. Color of 10W/40. Aroma of fruity burnt espresso. Taste is big woody, tannic burnt coffee with a subtle edge of pepper. Decent.
