COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Ale is our classic saison. We brew this beer with pilsner malt, wheat malt, flaked wheat, and cane sugar. A healthy dose of saaz hops are used to add a spicy element to the beer. Prairie Ale is fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, and brettanomyces. Notes of black pepper and pineapple can be found in this beer.

500 ml. bottle. Pours a thick, gradually diminishing fluffy white head, over an effervescent, hazy, yellow (SRM 3) body......nose is moderately spicy with clove, allspice notes, light citrus with lemon, orange, then pineapple, light cereal malts, big barnyard with light urine, slight herbal hops......taste is slightly sweet, with lemon, orange tones, pineapple notes, mild spices, light malts, light barnyard funk, finishing moderately hop bitter, with light black pepper.....mouth feel, light of medium body, slight alcohol, high carbonation. The yeast characteristics are ever so slightly off style, suggesting a need to change at least one of the three yeasts. That written, this is a quite enjoyable example of this broad style. Tap at Erzbierschof. Not your typical saison, but still very nice. Still residues of saison yeast noticeable, quite sweet flavour but dry palate.

Stunning pale golden pour w/ a retaining white head that leaves lacing. The aroma contains a generous amount of spices. The taste is very Belgian esque. It’s very spicy w/ a little bit of a bite in the middle. It’s rather soft on the palate & finishes relatively clean making it dangerously drinkable at over 8%. Quite possibly the best saison I’ve come across!

BeerBunker (965) - Burbank, Illinois, USA - AUG 15, 2015
Bottle. Pours murky golden with a big, foamy white head. Aroma is of malt, spice, funk, and yeast. Taste is of funk, soap, and yeast. Has a nice spice taste to it. Has a bready malt backbone. Mouthfeel is very soapy, almost fizzy. Body is very carbonated, and goes down easy. Aside from being very soapy, it’s a very good beer.
