COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Gold is a dry, highly effervescent saison fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, lactobacillus and 2 strains of brettanomyces. This beer highlights the various yeasts and bacteria used to make it. Lemon, pear, white wine grapes, and a touch of funk dominate the flavor and aroma in this champagne like beer.

Tasted on 9/21/13 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle purchased at Louisville Beer Store. Pours cloudy yellow with a massive, foamy perfectly white head that slowly recedes to thin, bubbly lace. The nose is dry and funky, almost Champagne-like yeastiness with a touch of tart lemon pith, and a bit of a wheaty malt aroma. The flavor is very similar, with a tart, yet very lightly sweet preserved lemon, a bit more of a biscuity flavor than suggested on the nose, and plenty of dry, funky yeast. The body is fairly light with sparkling carbonation and a very long, faintly sweet, but very tart preserved lemon finish.

0.5l bottle. GUSHER! Totally drowned my kitchen sink this bad boy. What I got over in the glass is quite nicely glowing and yellow golden. Its really cloudy and the big foamy gusher head fades into a thin island. Ok its a gusher, but looks OK and it smells absolutely divine. Super lemony zesty and brett sour with lots of sour fruits. White currants, sorrel, gooseberries and sour apricots. Lovely on the nose! Tastes a little milder. A lot milder. Surprisingly dry and non-sour actually. Feels like it has been over carbonated and that the bubbles have just collapsed. Body vise its mild oily. Salty wild berries, some currants and gooseberries - the non sour kind. Dryish mineralish finish and tail. Good one, but had much higher hopes for this one unfortunately. 27.03.2016

Pours a very hazy golden with a white rim on top that leaves some lacing. Nose is of "hay" (dont have a better word, sorry), oxidation, pepper and carbonic acid. Taste is lightly tart and dry with some grainy cereals and fruits. Some unfortunate chlorophenols in the finish but nothing really bad. Body is medium and carbonation high. Good but not great, Ill try to revisit someday.

Bottle (500 ml). Clear pale yellow-golden with a medium white head, good retention, leaving little lacing. Aroma is herbal with brettanomyces, white grapes, lemon, mild spiciness and hints of funk. Taste is moderately acidic - not sweet at all - with white grapes, brettanomyces herbal notes, lemon and very mild spiciness. Medium-light body. Moderate carbonation. Lemony and white grapes finish. Feels very light for 7% abv, so really easy drinking. Fun white grapes presence without the sweetness. Good!
