2016 small bottle. Pours a motor oil black with no head and little perceived carbonation. As I swirl it though, dark brown bubbles cling to the glass. Fudge brownies, bourbon, oak, marshmallows and prune all over the nose. Thick and chewy with lots of deep cacao, fudge, oak and whisky notes. The barrels work well and adds to the complexity of the beer. Lingering charred cacao nib, brownie finish with s’mores and vanilla bean. Solid work Prairie!

Shared 12 oz. bottle poured to a snifter, showing a lightly ruby highlighted, black/brown hue, with a presentable layer of brownish tan froth, and foamy spots of lacing. The nose was roasted, soft grain & malt, with cocoa, some dark fruit hints, lurking alcohol, burnt brown sugar, molasses, and caramel sweetness. The taste was similar notes, full bodied, with low carbonation, subtle creaminess to the texture, moderate earthy, roasted, and tannic bitterness, and nicely integrated, whiskey presence. Robust & smooth.

Bottle-Pours black with a small fizzy kacki head and sparse lacing. big legs on this one. Nose is big roast, vanilla, slight burnt notes. Flavors are huge roast, coffee, coca nibs, very burnt. Huge body, viscus and full. Long finish full of roast, char, alcohol, and burnt notes. Pretty solid impy stout. good but needs a tad of balance.

The beer pours dark brown with a nice tan head. The aroma has chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, light soy and smooth heavy roast. It has a full smooth body and then sharp carbonation that gives it a bite. The taste has earthiness, dark chocolate, char, hot pepper and some alcohol. The finish gets even drier with char really taking over. Nice.
