Bottle, smell is sweet vanilla, appearance is black with thin brown head, taste is of sweet dark chocolate and bourbon which finishes with a slight coffee taste jayzz (481) - Illinois, USA - JUN 1, 2014
Solid whiskey barrel stout. The base is solid, but seems to have oxidized quite a bit in the span of only half a year. The barrels could be bringing a better contribution in my opinion. But this is certainly not a bad or offensive stout by any means. Hair6a11 (1481) - Illinois, USA - MAY 29, 2014
Bottle (Red Wax) - It should be said that it took 3 tries to get a noninfected bottle down my gullet. The first two were infected rusted cap drain pours, and the third (this) was light rusted cap with no infection. So. Annoying. Anyway - The pour is murky brown, with a one finger fine bubbled khaki head into this glass - cobweb style lacing presence, with average retention. The nose is heavy barrel presence with light vanilla, marshmallow, feint booze, dark fruits, and caramel. The flavor profile is velvet grain initial, with booze presence and dark fruits, moving to cacao, marshmallow, spicy oak, and mild roast. I am officially a fan of this one Marheb (5750) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 29, 2014
Moelleuse concoction chocolatée avec des tons de toasts brûlés, caramel, coco, vanille et de chaleur d’alcool. jake65 (3689) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - MAY 23, 2014
Bottle (red wax) from deyholla – thanks! Very dark brown pour with a smallish brown head. Light lacing. Nose is well balanced in roast, cocoa, bourbon, and charred barrel. Good ratio of sweet to roast, same in the taste. Coffee begins to come through, along with a heavier roast. Barrel notes are less prominent, but in a good way. Finishes with a lingering bittersweet cocoa and light bourbon note. Great texture. I had the Pirate Noir last summer and have been looking forward to try this as original, aka base beer. Very good stuff.

My Bottom Line:_angst_ (4802) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 16, 2014
This solid Imperial Stout shares roasted cereal, dark chocolate and delicate fruit flavors licked by alcohol warmth.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the darkness.
-Mouthfeel is rich but not too heavy.
-Flavor profile is very tight; you can tell these guys know what they’re doing in the dessert beer category.
-This is very good, just not as compelling as their Bomb! treatments, to me.

Draft. Pours a deep brown to black with a light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, light coffee. Flavor is a roasted malt coffee bitterness. Medium body with a lingering light burnt bitterness and a coffee sweetness. Excellent stout. Ataraxia (533) - California, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Almost black, opaque, with a moderate mocha head. Chocolate, coffee, marshmallow, whiskey, and brown sugar. Mild sweetness followed coffee ground bitterness. Smooth and creamy, but finishes astringent and quite bitter.
