bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Big thanks!
Very thin creamy tan head. Clear jet black pour. Lots of chocolate with some whiskey notes. Very well brewed. Nice beer! GreatDane1632 (1174) - North Dakota, USA - JUL 15, 2014
Rated from notes taken on 1 Jun 2014 -- Did a side-by-side tasting of Regular, Coffee, and Vanilla Noir’s. This is an awesome brew. Very hard to decide between this and the Coffee as my second favorite. The vanilla is better by a hair. BlowOffTube (515) - Michigan, USA - JUL 15, 2014
I love barrel aged beers but this one didn’t do it for me. Over carbonated with a barrel taste that was mode tree bark hint of bourbon. Some vanilla chocolate but not enough. Black motor oil pour. DuffMan (10772) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 11, 2014
Bottle, RBAG 2014 prelim. Inky brown pour, rich roast, coffee, bourbon sweetness, woody, very full bodied. dfearnley (2405) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 11, 2014
Bottle to goblet at the RBAG14 warmup
Strange aroma, not quite funk, horse blanket, soy and rooibos. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, nutmeg, mace.

Bottle shared by Ferris at RBAG. Thick black pour with a light layer of mocha head. Aroma is roasted malts, oak, and a hint of bourbon. Taste is fairly toasty, some nice roast, a bit bland and not much barrel. Ferris (17117) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 11, 2014
Bottle - Big Whisky and barrel notes with chocolate roast malts. Jet black with a decent brown head. Whisky notes and oatmeal. Silky smooth and not as complex as the nose. rdixon77 (3106) - Georgia, USA - JUL 10, 2014
Thanks to joedevivre for the share. Dark brown pour. Chocolate and bourbon dominant nose and taste. Some char and roasted malts in the flavor as well. Excellent balance between barrel, booze, and sweetness. Excellent. Boutip (6628) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 18, 2014
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a nice large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep black chocolate notes with some light bourbon notes is quite interesting. Taste is a mix between some vanilla and bourbon notes mix in with some sweet black chocolate notes. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed stout but I was expecting flavours to shine through even more so. demmbonz (784) - Erin, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 14, 2014
12oz bottle to snifter. Dark pour. Lovely head. Smooth mouth feel from the oats. Nothing over the top. Subtle barrel. Very smooth and drinkable.
