Aroma is dark fruit, barrel aging/fruit, raspberries, malts and a good hint of tartness. The flavor is raspberries, malts, mild/medium sweetness, dark fruit and an acidic and a warming alcoholic finish. drowland (8938) - Georgia, USA - JAN 12, 2014
1/12/13. 500mL bottle from John’s. Thanks, pepsican. Amber pour with a small khaki head. Nice aroma, seems barrel aged as opposed to oak, sweet booziness, vanilla, nice sweetness, a touch of funk and tartness. Nice flavor as well, lightly sweet, oak, vanilla, touches of roast, light funk and tartness. Experiment_Ale (1098) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 11, 2014

On tap @ Taps Petaluma. Nice brown pour with a light haze and a tall khaki head. Lots of wood, toast, toffee, and nuts on the nose. Light sourness, some chocolate, red wine, and lots of dark fruits. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, and vanilla, too. Crazy. Flavor is kind of all over the place as well. Nice malty sweetness but also that slight tartness. Quite vinous with a big red wine character. Sweet toffee, brown sugar, caramel, and dark fruit. Notes of chocolate, plenty of drying oak, and some toasted nuts. Pretty enjoyable, but certainly not my favorite Prairie beer. bytemesis (8960) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JAN 7, 2014
Bottle. Pours hazy deep chestnut ruby, quite beautiful. Medium tan creamy head, nice lacing. Aroma is spicy, cinnamon, orange zest, molasses, toffee, allspice. Flavor is medium sweet, light zesty bitter, dark sugars and fruits taking a backseat to the spices. Some light woody tannins and vanilla notes as well. Light astringency, perhaps a bit tart on the finish. Gets more spicy and less balanced as it breathes and warms.

500ml bottle, head fizzle quickly. Smells of alcohol and oak and funk and dark chocolate. Taste is very rustic and oaky with a tart funk, almost like tasting leather, and a sweetness reminiscent of burnt caramel ever so slightly. Very interesting beer!

Poured from a bottle. Smells extremely weird with oaky hints. Bitter to taste. Phatdog1 (179) - Brentwood, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 1, 2014
Wax topped bottle in trade, with thanks to soonerchamps. Poured a murky brown with a small beige head. Initial aroma of yeasty bread with some molasses, then lots of wood and booze. Flavor of tart dark fruit, a bit of sour. Oak very present, slight boozy finish. As it warmed up, it evolved to a buttery finish. I wonder if time would help this, it tasted a bit green to me. Odd little brew. djd07 (15330) - Houston, Texas, USA - DEC 31, 2013
Bottle thanks to Bob! Pours a cloudy brown with a small beige head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma is raisin and nuts. Light fruit caramel but a bit off in the finish.

A very muddy brown color little head. Smells of alcohol strongly, along with a musty chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter. Taste is slightly smoky roasted with some good chocolate flavors that reminds me of a tootsie roll. Dry, slight bitter at the beginning. Some tastes of rye as well. Overall pretty interesting.
