500ml bottle, head fizzle quickly. Smells of alcohol and oak and funk and dark chocolate. Taste is very rustic and oaky with a tart funk, almost like tasting leather, and a sweetness reminiscent of burnt caramel ever so slightly. Very interesting beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Corbet’s house on November 06. 500 mL bottle. The pour is a strange murky brown color with a thick egg shell colored head that roils down to a film pretty quickly with some messy lace left behind. The aroma is interesting. It’s really spicy, but there is a strange oak and a strong yeasty malt. This is all over the place. It’s not overly good in any sense. The flavor is a little worse. There is a sharper alcohol and a messy barrel integration. The spiciness and the messy malt and yeast is just falling apart. This isn’t really good at all. The mouth feel is watery and light with a sharp carbonation. This is interesting. It’s way past its prime, I feel. I’m not really enjoying this at all. 5 4 5 3 12

Deep dark brown coloured body with a violet and deep ruby body with a single centimetre tall rich brown head that fades very fast. Aroma of sour cherries, grapes, oak, vanilla, yeast, roasted malt, oatmeal and a dose of caramel as well - very interesting and just the smell at least is super complex. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong rich malt flavour with oak, bourbon, wine and cherries all noticeable up front. Aftertaste shows the musty and slight mushroomy notes of an old ale along with some pleasant caramelised sugars, a little fruit and cherry sourness and of course some of the oak and dry barrel notes that come through at the very end. Overall, a very nice and complex beer with much less body and pungency than expected, but made up in complexity and uniqueness. Definitely worth trying if you can get this, and probably just acceptable to drink at this age, aging it would make it even thinner bodied, but the complexities may increase with this yeast strain. I sampled this 50 cL wax-topped bottle purchased from The Proper Pour @ The Source in Denver, Colorado on 07-June-2014 for US$10,00 sampled at home in Washington after the Blizzard of 2016 on 25-January-2016.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy copper with small off white head. The aroma is strong raisin, caramel, booze. Medium mouth, strong dark fruit, caramel, vanilla, funk and boozy finish, good.

Bottle... Pours murky and dark brown with a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. Good retention. The aroma is an assortment of white oak, white wine, rich malts and toasted coconut. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The delicious malty goodness here takes a back seat to equally delicious oaken, fruity tartness. Fruity, tangy, toasty finish. Bottle generously provided by biggsbowler!

500 ml bottle. Massive gusher, dangerous one. Pours a cloudy brown color with a medium white head after it relaxes. A big sweet fruity nose. Maybe slightly sour, toffee, oak, rich cocoa. Interesting. Deep cherry and chocolates. Solid.

Une bouteille chez El Bait Shop: Des épices, des tannins, des petits fruits pales provenant des malts et de la fermentation. Belle chaleur d’alcool, belle complexité des sucres mais un peu difficile à terminer.

500 mL bottle, huge thanks to Brett for sharing! Lightly thin plum colored pour, small fizzy off-white head. Nose and flavor are quite pleasant and definitively old ale, with leather, tobacco, plum, hints of warming spice, and molasses. Light tartness, medium body. A solid US interpretation; good, and true.
