Vanilla Noir is Prairie Noir aged on organic, fair trade vanilla beans, and let’s just say it takes a lot of beans! The vanilla flavor compliments the whiskey barrel aging process and adds a delicious layer to the beer.

Once again, I want to like Prairie not only because they're literally in my backyard, have amazing artwork, and dish out new brews constantly...but damn it Prairie, please venture out a bit further. It's like you have one saison and one stout that you just vary ingredients or barrels on just enough to market it as a new brew. Give us a pale, white, IPA, red, SOMETHING! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle. Aroma of bold vanilla, chocolate, and bourbon. Taste is vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, and bold barrel. Bourbon is a tad hot but it balances the stout. Very nice!!

Bottle from App Vintner- The vanilla isn’t working for me, I like the non-vanilla version better.

Bottle from Appalachian Vintner. Pours oily black with a khaki head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Interesting blend of vanilla with the base prairie bomb though I’m not sure it adds much. Still quaffable. Hides it’s booze well.

12 ounce bottle from Wine + Market. Big chocolate taste with vanilla nose and then vanilla in body. Good but too pricey.

Amazing beer 2nd to apple brandy noir. Overwhelming vanilla that somehow blends well with bourbon barrel stout. Absolutely delicious. Well done.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Aromas of vanilla, marshmallow, graham cracker, whiskey, booze, dark chocolate, cocoa. Tastes of sweet vanilla, milk chocolate, coffee, whiskey. Full body with a dry and slightly warm finish. Tasty but maybe a touch too much vanilla. Very rich.

12 ounce bottle in the lineup for the rest of the variance. This is probably my favorite of the bunch. Pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is nice roast malt chocolate vanilla The Bourbon Barrel shows through well a little Ash. Taste is more of the vanilla Bourbon Barrel forward Chocolat Roast malts coffee and a little touch of ashtray

Shared at the Prairie Everything Dark/Kill Your Liver Extravaganza at Jeff’s House on July 1. 12 oz bottle, 2015 vintage. The pour is a lighter black with a thin ring of medium khaki colored head and no lace at all when it fades away. The aroma is full of vanilla bitterness. There is a strong oak and chocolate malt with a nice char and a bitter roast on the back end. There is just a touch of alcohol, but this is really good and full of vanilla bean. The flavor is just as good. The roasted and scorched malts are lovely and the vanilla is full and heavy. There is a little bit of bourbon present that I definitely like. The mouth feel is medium to heavy bodied with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly vanilla heavy bourbon and oak heavy bitterness. This is a damn good beer. 8 4 9 4 16

Bottle shared at the Prairie Stout Extravaganza. Aroma is vanilla heavy, whiskey, roasted malt, coffee, good. Appearance is dark dark brown, light brown head, poured thinnish. Taste is vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, whiskey, barrel. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, light carbonation, vanilla and roasted malt aftertaste. Overall, it’s solid.
