COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Birthday Bomb! was conceived to celebrate three wonderful years of experimentation and fun loving flavors like the current incarnation with caramel sauce. Made in house by our brewers with nothing but black gloves and a propane tank. The rest is the complex mix of hops and malt with a healthy dose of the signature coffee and spices. You know exactly what we’re talking about.

Deep, pitch black coloured body with a very thin, rich brown head, only about a centimetre tall. Aroma of super pungent and astringent roasted malts, licorice, anise, aniseed, fennel, caramelised sugars and a huge dose of alcohol and bittering fruits, like raisins, plums and figs. Full-bodied; Assertive alcohol and burnt coffee flavours that hit hard at first and then leave a bunch of milk and caramel flavours and a dose of cream and roasted malts that finish it all off, all with a good deal of the aniseed and bitter licorice noticeable. Aftertaste shows some lighter cream and milk flavours with a bigger sweetness from the caramel, but a much bigger flavour of roasted malt, aniseed and pungent grain, with somehow an even bigger flavour of alcohol and warmth. Overall, a decent Imperial Stout - and drinking this fresh makes me realize exactly why I try to age my Imperial Stouts for a minimum of two years before drinking. But, this beer while is full of flavour, isn't tremendously good - it's much too potent and i'm not sure where 'Birthday' comes up, but this is more reminiscent of a 'spiced' Bomb and nothing more than that. Sweet, sticky, incredibly pungent and while a nice beer, not something to try to go out and find and/or age. I sampled this thirty-two ounce growler fill on draught at [newly discovered for me] great Store K-1 in Arlington, Virginia a few blocks away on 15-October-2017 and sampled on my Oldest Daughter's Fifth Birthday (hence Birthday Bomb! that I could feel acceptable buying) on 16-October-2017 for US$14,99/thirty-two ounce fill sampled here at home in Washington.

12 oz bottle received as a gift from my wife. The pour is deep black brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is soy, cane sugar and heavy roast coffee. As it warms I get the cocoa, sweet vanilla and a bit of the spice pepper. The Taste has the cocoa and spice pepper chili pepper right away with roast, soy and cane sugar underneath that. The coffee really lingers. The palate is medium to heavy bodied with soft carbonation and the lingering coffee roast sweet booze finish. Well made.

12oz bottle pours dark brown black with a finger of tan head. Nose and taste have earthy dark roast, moderate spice, bitter chocolate, char, finishes with semi sweet biiter cocoa, medium-thin body, no heat, light spice.

On tap. Almost black color with tiny tan head. Aroma - Coffee, dark chocolate, rum, vanilla, r-malt. Taste - Brownies, dark choc, coffee, vanilla, cherries. Rich and probably one of the reasons why I fell asleep somewhere in the dump in the middle of Seoul.

I love the bombs, I hope this one is more of the same. The aroma is spicy chocolate and coffee with some chili pepper. Taste is coffee, caramel, chili, green pepper and coriander. Another bombtastic beer.
