A 2016 bottle that has no business being opened at 2am on a school night.
Pours practically pitch black with a medium sized head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is lightly smoky with a bit wood & vanilla component, some chocolate... ok, shitloads of chocolate & some big roasty malt character. Yes, it smells like bourbon too.

The flavor is mostly chocolate, in the best way possible, like layers of dark chelate, and fudge, and like Mexican chocolate (i.e. I can taste the hot peppers) It's got lots of vanilla and some mild bourbon flavor.

A perfect dessert.

12 oz bottle poured at Matt's. Huge thanks to Greg for sending this bottle my way. Held on to it for a good occasion, and tonight seemed perfect. Delicious imperial here. Plenty of chocolate character, and the chilies really make an appearance, which I love. Vanilla cream body, but no sweetness really to speak of. Warming finish. Love the combination of bold stout and dessert stout here. Very fun barrel treatment. Just an overall great beer here.

Bottle in Seattle. Huge thanks to Andrew for opening this tonight. Small head, dark heavy brown. Fantastic nose of deep chocolate and carnation instant breakfast. Sip is full, smooth, complex and adds a fruit character to the chocolate. Some raspberry edges. Crazy drinkable. Hard to pinpoint the precise barrel character, but this tastes balanced and cohesive. Rich and lush. Completely delicious.

on tap to snifter, dark brown suede with nothing else, has a lot of whiskey on the nose which can be , good flavor balance of caramel, whiskey and malted milk balls, finish is a little chewy but nice beer

Black pour with no head whatsoever. Huge Hershey syrup aroma that’s big on chocolate and sweet vanilla and brown sugary bourbon and a hint of caramel latte. Bold huge flavor that’s at once woodsy and bourbonny but then a wave of sweet chocolate syrup rides in and brings vanilla along with it. Warm lingering chocolate bourbon finish with a cafe mocha undertone. Amazing.

(2016 keg @ Himmeriget, Copenhagen, Dec 15/17) Pitch black pour with a small off white head. Aroma is pretty roasted and peppery, notes of coffee, hard-roasted cacao, ashy burnt grain, moderate whiskey, wood, light sweet caramel, soft vanilla and spicy chili. On the palate, rather dry, core of dark caramel and chocolate, burnt wood, spent coffee grounds, ash, light vanilla, rather hot whiskey spirit, moderately high peppery heat, dusty, rather harsh into the finish. Medium-full body, soft carbonation, a bit of booze. Came across as rather harsh in comparison to many other stouts consumed alongside, like the chilies and barrel were amplifying each other's worst qualities. Maybe a bit old, not the best Bomb. Remembered this as better from a quick sip previously.

375ml bottle @ Matt's. Pours an opaque dark brown with a small beige head. Nose is a nice amount of coffee, whiskey barrels, with hints of cocoa and vanilla. Flavour is quite similar, cocoa, vanilla, coffee and whiskey barrels with an underlying chilli character.

Pours pitch black, no head and thick lacing on the glass. Aroma has vanilla, peppers, oak, bourbon, spices, cinnamon. Taste is cinnamon, vanilla, roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, oak, maple syrup-ish sweetness, bourbon finish with peppers that sits in for a long time.

Smell: whisky, vanilla, dark cocoa, coffee. Tongue: less barrel, more coffee and chillies. Aroma is more complexed than taste. Good job. // W aromacie głównie beczka, w tle wanilia, gorzkie kakao i kawka, delikatne papryczki w sumie też i ani grama stricte alkoholu. W smaku beczka już tak nie dominuje, jest więcej kwaskowatej kawy. Od pierwszego łyka wyczuwalne piekące papryczki. Generalnie aromat bardziej kompleksowy niż smak. Świetne piwo jak każdy RIS od Prairie.

355ml bottle (thx, Rick P.!) at Matt's. Pours a very dark brown with a weak beige head. Aroma is chocolate, barrel, peppers. Similar taste. This one is nice. Like others BA stuff, though.
