More of a mahogany color, than chestnut. Very caramelly, burnt sugar flavor with bready malty aroma, w/o much hops contribution. Fails to open up much on the palate, yielding more caramel and molasses. Served well-chilled at the brewpub, medium carbonation. Curiously bitter, more of a bittersweet chocolate, or burnt kind of flavor at the finish, than a clean, hoppy, astringency. Pretty good, but I’d have preferred more fruitiness, and a cleaner finish.
