I was surprised I did not hate this since I pretty much can’t stand all vanilla beers. Comes to the table a nice golden color with medium carbonation. Aroma is almost all vanilla but not a fake vanilla, more like a light vanilla ice cream with some light pils malt in the background. Flavor is vanilla all the time but it has a moderate strength with a bit of a sweet malt presence to keep the vanilla from getting overpowering. Vanilla stays calm throughout the tasting and keeps it very much like a vanilla cream soda flavor. Overall this is definitely not a bad beer for a vanilla flavored one, can’t get much better than this. mikeben (355) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - MAY 4, 2008
This really does taste like a beer crossed with a cream soda and damn if it isn’t refreshing and clean. Don’t get me wrong it is a real tasting beer, but the sweetness and clean mouthfeel are really nice. I enjoed it very much and much better then the vanilla beer I have had bottled. On tap at Prairie Rock. Poured clear lighter-golden with coppery highlights.. little cap of white head. Holy crap there’s a lot of vanilla in the aroma!!! Fresh beans, at least, but it really smothered all other potential components. The flavor had buttery vanilla sweetness throughout with very faint bitter herbal accents.. uber-sweet and hard to drink with a long vanilla finish. Just less than medium-bodied with a creamy feel.. but too damn sweet! SubstanceT (1092) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 30, 2007
#1007, on tap at the brewery. Schaumburg location. Clear yellowish with a thin white head that is quickly discipating. Nose is faint with some grains. Taste has some pretty strong vanilla and some grains. Drinkable. keoki182 (305) - West Bend, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 13, 2006
Enjoyed at Great Taste of the Midwest festival. Yellow and cloudy in appearance, fantastic vanilla aroma. Taste didn’t quite compare to scent; sweet , semi-cloying flavor of artificial sugars. Malty enough to make this drinkable and enjoyable!

Light color golden thick white head w/ good lacing. Smells like vanilla extract & creme soda. Palate is light. FLavor is vanilla & light butter the vanilla lingers some heavy creme soda flavor.. the vanila portion is really over done. To sweet for me. beervana (781) - Libertyville, Illinois, USA - FEB 22, 2006
(02.18.06) Sampled at FebFest ’06, Libertyville, IL. Hazy light amber ale having a small white head. No discernable carbonation. Vanilla aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and pronounced vanilla flavor. Finishes with vanilla flavor fade. Vanilla ester flavor rather overwhelming and very synthetic tasting. The beer tastes more like vanilla cream soda - a decent drinkable dessert beer. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2005
Amber Coloring with White Ring. Nice Sweet Vanilla Creme Soda Aroma. Sweet Malt and Grains, Vanilla...Musty Malt Ending. Started Off Quite Well...Ending Needs Some Work. badgerben (5324) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - OCT 20, 2005
Amber color with no head. Aroma of a vanilla Coke. Taste has more sweet vanilla, but is unfortunately overshadowed by a musty grain base. An unfortunate blemish on an otherwise surprising treat. StewardofGondor (2088) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 19, 2005
Schaumburg. Clear brass in color with a white wrung for the head. Aroma entices with natural vanilla extract, vanilla Tootsie Rolls and Christmas sugar cookies with delectable icing. Too much acidity and thinning on the first sip, and regretfully that’s a characteristic that remains consistent throughout. Vanilla is somewhat prevalent in the finish, but otherwise, it’s a masked pale lager.
