Tap at Duque Brewpub, Lisbon. Clear golden shade. Thin white head. Lots of grapefruit and lemony hop flavours. Caramel malty. Nicely fruity and interesting enough for this style.

from Au Grain dOrge, Neuchtel - clear pale golden beer with a persistent white foam left; light spicy and grainy hoppiness, dusty; creamy palate, medium-bodied, low bitterness, oily grassy finish and residual sugars, light fruity tones - cheap stuff

In short: A characterless clean thirst blonde offering an appreciable cereals freshness. Ok.
How: Tap at brewpub.
The look: Clear pale blonde body topped by a small white head.
In long: The low-profile nose is basic fresh cereals and a trace of grassy hops. In mouth the beer offers a typical clean thirst lager mouthfeel with a slender body and plenty of soft bubbles. Taste mostly just fresh bready-crackery cereals, low sweetness sensation, some refreshing kind-of-fruity notes of lemon meringue and then a mild grassy hops presence. You cant give a high score or a bad score to a beer like this, it is so basic, it doesnt have much to offer but what it offers is freshness and drinkability. It would probably suck if it was bottled but fresh at the brewpub it was an acceptable no-style thirst lager. A bland beer but thats about as good as it gets in Portugal, there were so few good brewpubs in this country that I had to spend time with my wife, she seemed like a nice person.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 2A). Bottle 75 cl - Batch LP0313. AROMA: vegetable like aroma (cooked beans). some sulphury notes with a faint malt background. APPEARANCE: pale straw color and clear. faint white head with low retention. TASTE: modified pils malt flavours (resembles cooked beans) maybe from the overly extended time in the bottle. PALATE: thin body with average carbonation. OVERALL: unratable due to off flavours and aromas maybe due to extended aging or infection in the bottle.

Clear yellow color, small white head. Sweet, perfumic, herbal, malty aroma. Light-bodied. Sweetish malty, low herbal bitterness, a bit worty. Typical brewpub pils, "cereal lager".
