3fourths (9358) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 8, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 9, 2013 Highly bitter lemon pith, grass, wood oil astringency, bitter green leaves with a slightly unclean / laundry soap yeast presence. Basil and marijuana green leaf / herbal aroma, some alcohol noticed. Medium body, low carbonation, low sweetness (apparently), high bitterness. Mashed apple and pear esters seem to amplify this greenness. Bracing bittering in a lengthy finish becomes unenjoyable due to the astringent wood oil character. That said, it’s easy to just sip and not think about and it comes across as a decent beer then. But for a Belgian-made saison / hoppy golden ale? Doesn’t fit where I want it to.

Idiosynkrasie (7970) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUL 23, 2015
330ml bottle. Clear, deep golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Floral hoppy and floral yeasty aroma, sweet-ish pale malty background, fruity hints of peach and apricot. Taste is slightly sweet pale malty, hints of honey, mild floral hoppy and floral yeasty overtones; smooth, soft palate gentle carbonation. Mellow, mild and cautious.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, unfiltered. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of lemon/lime/orange peels, pepper, gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Pleasant and clean, not what I was expecting given that this comes out of the De Proef factory. Lots of citrus peel and floral character...simple but nice. Could use more bitterness or tartness in the finish to make it more interesting (once you swallow, it pretty much vanishes completely), but all in all it’s decent.

BlackHaddock (7690) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 6, 2013
33cl Bottle: BBD 29 May 2014. Poured into my huge ’Judas’ glass on 5 Aug 2013 during a Belgian Tasting Evening with myself! Looked fine in the glass: bright golden body with a large head (you can really pour fast into a Judas glass) of snow white bubbles. Light nose of yeasts, hop notes and freshly cut grass. The taste was also light, delicate might be a better word. Hints of flavours rather than ’in your face’ powerful features. Slight citrus feel to the piece, with a mini grain undertone. I found it pleasant enough but it was completely overshadowed by the other Belgian brews I had around it. In short: a refreshing but weak Belgian offering, start with this, don’t have it mid-session.

33cl Bottle from De Hopduvel, Gent. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma is floral, light malty, pale malts, light fruity, hint of tropical fruits. Flavour is light to medium-sweet, dry, light malty, floral, light fruity, some lemon, hint of tropical fruits, yeast, nice bitter hoppy finish. Light-bodied. Nice Belgian blond ale.

olsvammel (7289) - Örebro, SWEDEN - MAR 3, 2015
Bottle at Pressklubben in Stockholm. Fruity and light malty smell. Similar taste with a light spicy yeasty aroma. Clean and well made but lacks a dimension for a higher score.
