A classic London beer style with a long and colourful history, Porter originated in the city around 300 years ago. While there are conflicting accounts of the exact origins of Porter, it’s clear the beer has been enjoyed by hard-working Londoners for centuries. We use traditional malts and Kentish hops in ours, and we’ve also brewed experimental versions with tea, coffee, oysters, chipotle, and New World hops.

Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Pours a deep brown, near-black body with a small beige head. Nose is roasted bread, nuts, chocolate, rye bread and hints of coffee and leather. Taste is burnt toast, licorice, dark chocolate, coffee, rye and hints of caramel and nougat. Medium body and carbonation. For such a low ABV this is a really flavorful porter, with surprising complexity and even body. Impressive.

Hadley there aroma for such a beefy porter. Slightly fruity and malty. Pours like liquid treacle. Hardly any head. Very syrupy. Sweet and sticky ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle. Pours a pitch black colour with a minimal white head. Aroma of strong rich roastiness, some burnt biscuit and heavy licorice notes. Rich flavour of roastiness, espresso, biscuit, some leathery notes and milk chocolate. Fair amount of bitterness. Light bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Finishes nice and roasty with some burnt crisp meatiness. Quite heavy on the roastiness, yet so low on ABV. Great.

Transferring some earlier reviews from my blog to RB. Aprill 2014, The Fox’s Knocker (£ 2,50), 33 cl. Valades muidugi pruunikas-must, rohke tumekreemika vahuga, mis suht kiiresti taandub. Aroom on võimsalt-rammusalt nätske rummikoogine, meelele tuleb siuke kook, kus sees on veel mingit moosinatukest, hapukat, nt pohlamoosi, võib-olla ka ploomi ja kakaopuru. Suht kerge kehaga, vähese karbonisatsiooniga. Kergelt hapukas, suitsuploomine, tahmane-tolmune... Suulakke jääb kuiv, kurku kleepjas tunne. Väga hea, kuigi mingi nüke nagu jääks puudu.
