Opaque dark brown beer, bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light, dry and finely crisp. Earthy dark malts, whispers of smoke and roast. Nice plummy fruits that are mildly tart. Touches of blueberry and generic berries. Modest oak. Dry finish. A tad dry but it hangs together well.

Aroma: toasted malts, chocolate, light coffee, earthy. Appearance: dark brown, black, small, creamy, beige head. Taste: light biter. Palate: some sours coming up as well, toasted malts again, some lightly bitter fruits, red currant?, bitter finish. Overall: OK Porter, fairly interesting palate. Aroma has roasted malts, cocoa powder, dry wood, licorice. Taste has more cocoa powder, dry wood, licorice, tangy red berries in the finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Bottle shared at The Cad’s 10 year get together. 29/03/2015. From Bottledog KingsX. Viscous black coloured pour with a lasting ran head. Aroma is smoky, earthy campfire, twig, plum. Flavour is composed of sweet strawberry, tiwggy, dark choc, raspberry. Decent porter.

Bottle shared at the Cad’s 10th Anniversary Tasting - CBC Clerkenwell, London. Thanks! Pours brown with a foamy beige head. Lots of toasty malts in this one, with notes of dry cocoa, general burnt earth, brown bread. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light black with a decent tan swirl.
Nose is roast malt, charr, spice, toffee fudge.
Taste comprises roast malt, molasses, chocolate, tangy red berry, earthy strokes.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation with a roasted close.
Decent enough porter.

A little soy and molasses, it’s a twangy fruity, and there is a sweetness but it’s sweet in the way that Daddies sauce carries a sweetness. I get the plum, it leaves a tart, jammy, plum skin flavour. Different but good. We’ve met Poacher John (he has collaborated with the brewing of this), we met him in the Cock Tavern like, Hackney. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5
