Bottle, dug out of my basement.
Pours a very deep golden color with a big head and nice lacing on the glass.
The aroma is a little bit like what I would expect Bigfoot to smell like if it aged really well. Lots of toffee, sweet but also spicy with a little bit of pine and leafiness hanging on for dear life. A touch of red apple, a little bit of licorice. It’s really is like an American Barleywine that aged especially well.
The flavor delivers on everything promised in the aroma, toffee, cherry, warming alcohol, red apple, a nice medium level of bitterness, a touch of licorice, a bit of orange peel, a bit of pine. Rich & sweet but still sharp.
The palate is big, sort of mouth coating but still a bit sharp and the finish is very long.
I really expected this to be garbage, if I had any clue it would be this good I wouldn’t have just opened it at 1AM in my dining room, I would have shared it... dammit.
Bottle shared at CBC CW during The Cad 10yr celebrations, London. Thanks to Leighton for this one. It pours a clean golden color with medium off-white head. Aroma is sticky sweet fruity with mango papaya melon grapefruit earth. Taste has light booze vanilla mango tropical fruit salad honey. Full bodied with good carbonation. After a long day of decent meetings and little lunch and no dinner, this was my main caloric intake and de-stressifier whilst sitting at the neighbors shed discussing the problems of the world. No firearms were hurt during this production. Big sweet citric body encircles me like visible electrons. A nice solid stoic body does little to mask the fact that it’s about to smack you with the boozy bomb of yummy alcohol. Birds appeared and then feathers. Many problems were temporarily solved. Bottle shared during the Cad’s 10th anniversary bash - Clerkenwell, London. Brought over from the US. Pours unclear gold with a creamy white cap. The nose holds sugary pale bread and ripening citrus fruits. Medium sweet flavor with juicy citrus, mango, papaya, melon. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sugary finish, sticky, with some tropical fruits, more pale bread. Quite sugary but the dense fruit character has its charms.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell. Thanks to Leighton! Hazy orange, cloudy, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is tangerine, sweet caramel, musty and earthy. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste has more sweet caramel, toffee apple, no real bitterness to it. Very sweet - too sweet to drink a lot of it - but nice in small amounts. Bottle that I took to James’ for the multi-K tasting. Pours a hazed ruby amber with a large beige tan head. Sweet grainy musk on the nose, caramel and sweet toffee. Grainy and sweet into the finish. Decent enough, but super malty and a touch too sweet for me.
