Just delightful. Nose of dark roasted malts, sweet notes over coffee and bitter burnt barley; you start to understand why German ersatz coffee was made from burnt grain. Dark chestnut reddish brown, almost clear, small head, no significant lacing; it is, after all, a lager. Taste is pretty extraordinarily intense for a lager without being, well, unlagery. Maybe it’s the boiling? Anyway, it’s a remarkably intense, remarkably malty, remarkably bitter, slightly hoppy dunkel and it taste is wonderful.
Bomber. Obviously not retired. Very dark brown with a big beige head. Roast and chocolate aroma with grain and earth. First sip could be chicory. Earth and fruit with some brown sugar. Bread and coffee. Bitterness creeps up and as it warms the fruit takes interesting turns. Sometimes grapefruit pops up. Interesting and tasty. Camons (12450) - Hasselager, DENMARK - APR 12, 2016

, Copenhagen - brown pour with a reddish hue. Aroma and taste is sweet bready toasty malty, some light roasty notes, some toffee and caramel sweetness, some nutty nuances, pretty decent overall.

This is a solid beer. Full flavoured with caramel, toast, spice, sharp bitterness, boozy hints, and a great bittersweet finish. Pleasantly surprised with this one. phaleslu (10271) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 25, 2015
Draft at iTap-Soulard, served in a pint glass. Pours a cloudy chestnut brown with an inch of beige head that laces the glass and settles into a film. Notes of chocolate, toasted barley and wheat, nuts, earth, caramel, dry grains, and leaves. Medium-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a toasty, earthy, smooth mouthfeel that finishes dry. Really good, interesting take on the style.
